One wonderful thing about New York City is that you actually experience every season! When you first arrive in August, it is sunny, hot, and sticky. At times, the humidity can become too much, and the idea of straightening your hair seems pointless. But around early to mid-September, everything chills out, and the temperature is very comfortable! Leaves begin to change and fall in mid-October, and this continues through November, while the temperature steadily drops down to the 50s.
The change to cold weather is very sudden at the end of November, going from mid-40s to freezing in about two weeks. December is mostly in the mid-20s and low 30s, with no snow until January (and most students are home for the whole month of January because of J-Term). Snow stops in March; rain comes in April, and the temperature crawls back up to the 50s in April, as well, with a few treasured 70-degree days here and there. The warm weather returns in May, and students go home right as the humidity comes back!
