Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

When you have to move a lot of heavy things or when you have a craving for IHOP at 4 a.m., there’s nothing better than having your own car. In general, having a car can be a great convenience so that you don’t have to take public transportation. Technically, if you want to get a parking sticker, you have to be an upperclassman, but getting a parking sticker can be expensive, and even then, finding an open spot is difficult. If you don’t have a sticker, parking your car on campus can be a nightmare. There are several lots on campus, but many require permits at certain times of day. Some students opt to not get permits, but they end up paying that amount back in parking tickets. Beware: You will get towed if you are parked anywhere near a no parking zone.

Your best bets for parking around campus are the Westgate lot by Next House, parking on Vassar Street near Simmons, or parking in the Kresge lot (only nights and weekends). Students also park on Memorial Drive. Off campus, parking in Boston is difficult, as well. Street parking is metered, and garage parking is expensive. Moreover, sometimes parking is so crowded that you have to park far, far away from your destination. However, many of the FSILGs do have their own parking lots.

No One Drives

so no one parks... I know 3 people with cars. Because you don't need one, it's like inconvinent to have one. Parking on campus is hard. Parking around campus is not.

Not Great

I don't drive, but i know very few people who do, unless they live in greek housing with its own parking, because parking is in short supply and very expensive in Boston in general.

But you don't need a car on campus, because bus and subway system is so great, plus most places students want to go to are in walking distance.

No Parking!

there is almost no parking available on campus, only a few garages and metered spots (which are always full). but this isn't an issue for most students because, instead of having a car, we usually walk, use the school shuttles, or ride a bike.
