McKendree is a pretty safe university. Public Safety officers are always on the lookout throughout the day and night. Some of the safest places include Piper Academic Center, Holman Library, Bothwell Chapel, Voigt Science Hall, New Hall West, New Hall East, and the bookstore. All dorms, new or old, have a black keypad to scan your student ID, meaning only McKendree students who live in that particular dorm can enter. Old Main is one of the older buildings on campus and sometimes features a lot of wasps flying around, particularly on the third floor. Generally, students feel safe walking around campus at night, and Public Safety will follow you to your car if you want them to. The best thing to do is to walk to your car with a friend of yours, so you feel more safe.

Health Services is located in Clark Hall on the first floor and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also, comprehensive counseling services are available to students. In addition to basic medical care, the registered nurse on staff can also provide over-the-counter medications.
