We do allow applicants to submit taped auditions if they are unable to make it in person. The interview portion of the audition is then conducted via Skype.

We do hold our incoming students to strong standards, but what we are looking for more than anything else are passionate students who show a potential to successfully complete the program and continue their successes in the professional world. We don't expect all of our incoming students to be virtuoso singers with years of performance experience already under their belt, but we do want to feel confident that a student has potential to really make something of their time at McNally.

The Comp/Songwriting program evaluates applicants on a number of criteria. We take a look at all of your application materials (the application itself, essays, High School GPA, any previous college experience, etc.) as well as the materials you'll need to submit that are specific to that program. Applicants to the Composition/Songwriting program are required to submit a three-song demo of their original material and must audition on an instrument or voice. We take a look at all of these materials when making an admissions decision. We are looking for students who show potential as songwriters and have a sense of direction in what their goals/expectations are in choosing a school/program like ours. While we maintain strong expectations of our incoming students, we aren't expecting everyone to be virtuosos with years of experience before they start school here. We want to see that students have a genuine passion for what they do and have the potential to succeed in this industry.
