Merced College is a great school for students looking to start their college career without breaking the bank. Students can earn their associate degree or any number of vocational certificates, such as an R.N. certification, for around six hundred dollars per semester. Merced College also has transfer agreements with many California universities. With the newly opened University of California, Merced, just up the street, a university education is closer than ever. Merced College is an excellent choice for students who attend part-time while they work. Their flexible class schedules allow students to work around busy home and work schedules and attain their degree at their own pace. Merced College is also great for career-minded students, whether they are planning to transfer to larger universities or returning from the work force to obtain further career training. Merced College also has a large number of non-traditional students.

It's hard to pinpoint the "average" student on Merced's campus because the student body is very diverse. There are many students who have come back from stints in the work force because they need further training or because they feel the need to change careers altogether. Merced College makes this process easy, providing special programs for returning students and college career guidance courses. Overall, Merced College is a great institution that serves its students by providing the education and tools they will need to succeed at a price they can afford.
