Autumn in central Pennsylvania is beautiful—warm and breezy weather with clear skies surrounds the campus during this season. Spring weather is great too and always brings students outside into the sun. Unfortunately, fall cools down fast and spring arrives late, which means that the majority of the school year is immersed in icky winter. Winters here are bitter cold and require heavy coats, gloves, hats, and scarves. Many nights are completely unbearable, and some students can’t handle it and remain in their dorms away from the cold.
Luckily, the campus is fairly small and it only takes a few minutes to get from building to building— quicker if you run—so you won’t have to bear the freezing temperatures for too long when walking to class or anywhere else on campus. One positive aspect of the winter is the snow it brings—and students at Messiah love the white stuff. A heavy snowfall will bring hundreds of people outside to build snow forts, have snowball fights, or go sledding down Cemetery Hill on Lottie trays.
