Famous Miami Alumni:
Benjamin Harrison (Class of 1852) – The 23rd president of the United States
Whitelaw Reid (Class of 1856) – Civil War journalist and photographer. Reid was Harrison’s running mate in the 1892 election. They are the only president and vice presidential pairing in history to graduate from the same university.
Ron Harper (Class of 1986) – Guard for the Chicago Bulls during their three consecutive NBA Championships from 1996-1998. Also a member of the 2000 Los Angeles Lakers Championship team
Nick Lachey (Transferred) – Pop singer and reality TV star
Wally Szczerbiak (Class of 1999) – guard and forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves
Rita Dove (Class of 1973) – The youngest person and first black woman to be named poet laureate of the United States
Richard T. Farmer (Class of 1956) – Chairman of the Cintas Corporation
Paul Brown (Class of 1930) – Former coach of the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, member of the Pro-Football Hall of Fame.
