Not unlike any other major university, drugs are present at Miami, even if they aren’t always visible. Students agree that marijuana tends to be the most prevalent drug on campus, unless, of course, you consider alcohol a drug—it is. Some students feel Western Campus and East Quad are the areas where drugs are most likely to be found. However, Oxford and Miami police, with the help of RAs and University officials, prosecute drug offenders quite harshly. Students caught with illegal substances can expect punishment. Students should also be aware that using common safety precautions when spending an evening uptown is a must. According to Miami and Oxford police, date rape drugs have a considerable presence in Oxford. Never leave your drink unattended—if you take your eyes off your beverage and lose it, just get a new one. It won’t cost anything, and it could save you a lot of pain in the long run. Additionally, Oxford police say that stronger, more serious drugs, such as cocaine or acid, are also present at Miami, but they are rare.

If you want to avoid the drug scene, you will not find the task challenging. It all depends on with whom you associate. Drugs are so undercover at Miami, that some students would say Miami’s campus is virtually drug free, while others might tell you that all of their friends do drugs and that campus, at times, seems like one big smokefest.

The drug scene isn’t too big. Just... The drug scene isn’t too big. Just like any campus, if you really want something, you can get it. I personally don’t do drugs at college, but my roommates got involved in it later on. One of them paid a hefty price for it. 12345 Drug Scene Report
