Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Off-campus housing is a privilege awarded to juniors and seniors at Miami University. Although the dorms on campus are very nice and close to classes, they do not compare to the off-campus housing. There are a couple options for students looking to live off campus. The first is apartment complexes, such as Hawks Landing and College Suites, which include a gym, swimming pool, and luxury units. These complexes, although beautiful, are a five-minute drive from campus. The second option is the number of apartments located in town above restaurants and shops. These apartments, although pricey, are extremely nice and sought-after.

Other options include small homes located around Oxford. Students who live in these houses have given them nicknames that usually refer to Greek life or are a reference to what the house physically looks like. For example, one small house on Vine is called "Caddyshack," which refers to the house's resemblance to a caddy shack on a golf course. Although all the houses are safe and well-structured, some are nicer than others. The landlords are usually very understanding of Miami students’ lifestyles and have extremely reasonable prices. Some of these houses are passed down through different Greek life "families" to keep them in the same social circles.

Housing

The housing is easy. Its easy to find a house close to campus and all the houses are very nice, including brand new apartments uptown. One disadvantage is that it is very expensive

Off-Campus Housing Is Great

The off-campus housing at Miami is fantastic. There are many options and all of the students live there. It is nice because everyone names their houses and people don't know your house by its address, they know it by the name. The only problem is that only junior and senior students can live in the off-campus housing.

Apartments.... What You See Is What You Get.

You could spend a ton to get a great apartment off campus, or you can spend a little and get something livable...yet not so nice. It's just like any town out there.
