Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most Miami students walk to class. The campus and town are so close that one defiantly does not need a car at this University. In the winter when it gets cold, there is a very well-structured bus system that transports students around Oxford and Miami's immediate campus. There are also local cab companies that take students around town. These companies also provide transportation to the airports during breaks. Although it is not necessary, most students in their third year bring their car to school.

Not Very Efficient

To its credit, Miami is a small campus in a small town, it probably doesn't need public transport that bad. The time it takes to walk somewhere on campus is probably the time it takes you to wait for a bus to come and transport you. Still, it makes that difference look even worse.

There is a bus that runs off campus to the local Kroger, and some special bus services that take occasional trips to Walmart (farther away), as well as some nighttime services, which can be picky about who they pick up. There are also emergency phones located across campus for emergency pickups.

Transportation

The public transportation is really nice especially in the winter. Occasionally, the bus will not arrive and then students are frustrated with the system. However students can walk but they just don't choose to. Plus there is a door to door services, which will take us back to our dorms or home when it is late at night. Its nice to know that the school is concerned for the student's safety.

Miami Metro

Miami has its own Miami Metro bus system that runs routes all across campus and the town of Oxford. It is a very convenient way to get around campus or to the grocery and other stores.
