College Prowler Take
Walking and biking to class might be nice in the summer and spring, but by the time winter rolls around, Miami students cram into the Metro to hitch a ride around town. Almost all students feel that the transportation system provides adequate stops at adequate times, making it possible for off-campus students to get to class on time without too much trouble. For on-campus students, the Metro is useful because it provides access to the big stores, like Wal-Mart, on the other side of town. Be aware in winter, because the buses are sometimes forced to stop running without warning when the hills around campus become too slick. If you’ve been standing for 45 minutes in the snow and the bus is nowhere in sight, this might be a good time to call your buddy who has a four-wheel drive SUV. If you are trying to get out of Oxford and you don’t have a car, the system can be a little trickier. The cheapest options for reaching an airport are to either catch a ride with a friend, or to use the Metro shuttle service to Cincinnati or Dayton. Other shuttle or taxi services can get rather pricey. The buses that take students home to Cleveland and Chicago at Winter and Spring Breaks are very nice and almost always fill up, so be sure to book your seat in advance.

The Miami Metro service is nice...
The Miami Metro service is nice when its cold outside, but it is hardly ever on time. Sometimes it's early, sometimes it's late, and you can probably get anywhere faster by walking than by waiting for a late bus.

There are four different bus...
There are four different bus routes that run until late at night, and they can take you virtually anywhere you would need to go, including Wal-Mart and Kroger. They run every 15 minutes during the day, and every 30 minutes at night. |

As a student who lives off campus, I use the Metro daily. Though it may take more than one bus to get somewhere, the buses can take you pretty much anywhere in Oxford. Bus stops are frequent and well placed. |

Miami has a free bus system. Well,...
Miami has a free bus system. Well, you pay like $30 per semester, but it’s included in tuition. It’s called the Miami Metro, and it’s super convenient. It goes all around campus and there are four routes. I used it everyday when I lived off campus. I also rode my bike everyday until winter came. |

The Miami Metro is what brings you...
The Miami Metro is what brings you from off-campus housing to campus, and can also take you to our more remote areas. They are very nice, and run until 3 a.m. on the weekends for a safe ride home from the bars. There are tons of stops and pick-ups. Very nice! |
On-Campus Transportation
Miami Metro is the bus system students use to travel from residence halls to the academic halls and off campus. There are seven bus routes in total covering all of the campus area.
