Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Most students are very satisfied with their decision to attend Michigan State University. New students sometimes complain that the size of MSU can be overwhelming and that it’s pretty easy to get lost while walking to classes; however, it only takes a few weeks before the campus starts to look familiar and feels more like home. Many students say they have made great friends and have been able to handle the challenging workload.

A university as large as MSU provides students with countless opportunities to excel academically, develop unforgettable social ties, and prepare themselves for a meaningful career and future. Unique research opportunities allow students to work closely with professors while gaining experience in their field of study. Many students take advantage of the wide range of study abroad experiences that are available every semester. With over 500 student groups and more than 200 programs of study, there is something for everyone at MSU. Program- and hobby-related groups are a fun way to meet new people. Make an effort to talk to people and keep up with schoolwork. Settling into a new lifestyle during first semester can be difficult for freshmen, but many are bleeding green by the time they return from winter break.

Drug Safety at Michigan State University

Green Beer

Michigan State University has a drug scene but the choice of drug is usually marijuana or Adderall (used for increased school performance). Alcohol is the recreational choice on campus. We love our alcohol so much so that St. Patrick's Day is more like a celebration of Michigan State's school color green rather than its typical celebration. We love our green beer and would not mind if it was served year round. The police are very good at cracking down on students and minimizing public displays of inebriation. No one forces you into drinking or doing drugs, it is not a necessity of being a Spartan.

I Bleed Green and White

Michigan State University has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have learned what I want to do with the rest of my life, met my future brides-mates, and found my passion with teenagers . Our sports are extremely important and school spirit is AMAZING! But fun is not the only thing we do well, school to Spartans is just as important. Our motto should be "We work as hard as we play". It takes a lot of work but I would not give up the friends I have met, the experiences I've had, and the knowledge that I have gained here. I grew up 15 minutes away and MSU has always been my heart but ask any student here, no matter where they are from they bleed green and white.

Easy Access and on Time

The public transportation systems are excellent at Michigan State. In fact, they have one of the top rated busing systems in the country. They run a bus about every five to ten minutes, then at night you can have the Night Owl come and pick you up where ever you are. They have excellent service.
