College Prowler Take

Campus dining is convenient, but the quality of food lacks consistency. Many cafeterias prepare a variety of different choices, everyday. Dorm food might not be top-notch, but the University really does try hard. On special dinner days the cooks step it up a bit, and the food takes a small leap toward divinity. Some cafeterias serve better food than others, and a large majority of students will agree that either the Gallery at Snyder-Phillips or Shaw Hall cafeteria food is far superior to other dormitories. The “meal on the go” option, called Totally Takeout, is a convenient way for busy students to stock up on soups, sandwiches, and snacks for their dorm rooms. Students now have the option of getting takeout from the Gallery, as well.

The cafeteria is not that bad as long as students’ expectations aren’t high. The food isn’t going to be home-style cooking, but students with meal plans generally eat better than off-campus students who are living off of fast food and ramen noodles. Cafeteria food is an acquired taste. It’s not great on the first encounter, but once students learn to lower their tastebuds’ standards, most agree it’s not that bad. Find time to make a trip to the Gallery for a good meal.

The food isn't bad. It's typical cafe food, but not disgusting. The best dining halls are the Gallery or Shaw Hall. Brody has a pasta bar every night, which is nice if you want a change. Cafe food makes you appreciate home cooked meals or even eating out much more.

For food, I either eat in Landon, just across from the music building, or in Abbott in the evening and for breakfast. The thing I like about Landon is that you can get deli stuff made for you everyday. And when I go there, the place is dead so I zip right through. Dining hall food is fine; I don’t see why people say bad things about it. You just have to realize that it’s mass produced.

ehhh its okay

Dorm food is actually pretty decent but gets really old, really fast. They recently cut down on options in some of the dining halls which is lame but they also have combo-exchange where you can get certain food items ie sandwiches/drinks/snacks from Sparty's (the in-dorm convenience store). Also, certain residence halls have their specialty i.e. in South Complex Wonders has great burgers for dinner on Mondays & Wednesdays, Wilson has tasty wraps/sandwiches everyday of the week and Case has a pasta bar. Sny-Phi is the best cafeteria on campus, no contest. They are renovating the Brody cafeteria to be like Sny-Phi so that should be pretty good when it reopens.

The food is awesome. I'm not a picky eater, but our cafes definitely have many healthy and varied options aside from the mainstream fries and burgers, so I'm happy with it.
