College Prowler Take
Students don’t have much to say about the drug scene at MSU, which speaks to its general absence around East Lansing. On the whole, the students at MSU agree that drugs are rarely seen on campus. The most commonly-reported drugs were, by far, alcohol and marijuana. It’s pretty rare to attend a party with someone selling or using drugs—most students steer clear of pot and harder drugs when they head out to parties. There are a few students who admit to smoking pot in their dorm rooms, but these only represent a small percentage of students at MSU. A majority of the student population is smart enough to avoid getting into situations where they could put themselves in danger or get in trouble with the law. Underage students who do get caught with alcohol often face the hefty fines and inconveniences that come with getting an MIP (Minor in Possession). This can include being required to attend substance education programs or having to wake up early every morning to find out whether they have to go in for substance abuse screening. Students who repeatedly break the law or are caught selling illegal drugs can be suspended from the University.

I don't take much notice to drugs on MSU's campus. I see drinking and smoking, but drugs I haven't really observed.

I'm not into drugs, although the most I hear about is pot and occasionally cocaine. Overall, I rarely am confronted with them. This is a pretty conservative campus overall. It's a pretty conservative part of the state.

Drinking is practically a sport here. However, I was pretty surprised at how little I've come into contact with the drug scene. Even at parties, they are usually pretty under the radar. But again, it all depends on who you hang out with.

It’s not too bad. You have to go looking for that sort of stuff. Of course it’s here like everywhere else, but it isn’t widespread. |
