Michigan State University - Overall ExperienceCollege Prowler0.00
College Prowler Take
Most students are very satisfied with their decision to attend Michigan State University. New students sometimes complain that the size of MSU can be overwhelming and that it’s pretty easy to get lost while walking to classes; however, it only takes a few weeks before the campus starts to look familiar and feels more like home. Many students say they have made great friends and have been able to handle the challenging workload. A university as large as MSU provides students with countless opportunities to excel academically, develop unforgettable social ties, and prepare themselves for a meaningful career and future. Unique research opportunities allow students to work closely with professors while gaining experience in their field of study. Many students take advantage of the wide range of study abroad experiences that are available every semester. With over 500 student groups and more than 200 programs of study, there is something for everyone at MSU. Program- and hobby-related groups are a fun way to meet new people. Make an effort to talk to people and keep up with schoolwork. Settling into a new lifestyle during first semester can be difficult for freshmen, but many are bleeding green by the time they return from winter break.

Campus Is So Welcoming
A-
The Administration needs to get back in touch with the student body, and begin doing more things for us. But I wouldn't trade our student body for any other campus. For the most part, we are open to all different types of lifestyles and backgrounds of each other. We may occasionally throw a quick insult at someone from a rival school, but are quick to drop it.
We have a nice balance between the activists, politics, and student activity freaks, and the partiers, slackers, and unmotivated. I have never felt pressured to do anything I didn't want to; alcohol or drug related. I am proud of my school, but again - that is of the student body. I truly wish the administration would take a step back and actually figure out ways to help the students more. Ways would include making a central hangout area available for those who don't want to drink, updating dorm and technology facilities, and make college more affordable and/or convenient for their students.

I’ve met cool people and had a lot of fun. It’s strange going to State because it’s so close to home, but also good in that I’m familiar with campus already. When I say take Grand River to Abbott or refer to the Trowbridge exit, I know if the person I’m talking to is from around here or not. And it’s pronounced M-A-C, not ‘mack.’ |

A college experience at MSU is four years you’ll never forget. It’s a beautiful campus during every season and the students are extremely friendly and helpful. You’ll never run out things to do. I couldn’t even imagine having gone somewhere else. |
