Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

MTSU has a diverse mix of students majoring in arts and sciences and everything in between. As a liberal arts school, the University offers a multitude of subjects to improve the overall knowledge of students. This environment is conducive to well-rounded intellectual and social development. The professors are varied in their commitment and interests, but there are more who care than who do not. The teachers who are dedicated and want to help truly impact the lives of their students. In general, the professors here reciprocate the respect and interest of their students. If a student does not want to learn, the teacher will not force him or her. In turn, those who seek help and put forth an effort to improve are offered help whenever possible. Not all teachers are this way, but one can always be found.

Some programs seem to suffer more than others. The biology and photography programs don’t always seem to have the equipment they need, while the aerospace and recording programs seem to have plenty. But MTSU’s recording program is well-known and was described in Billboard magazine as “an emerging music Mecca.” Much upgrading is taking place all over campus, and the future looks promising, even if things seem a bit lopsided at times. Everything can’t be improved at once.

Great Opportunities in Broadcasting

MTSU offers a students the chance to get hands on experience by working with a school news station that broadcasts to all of Rutherford county. Students are given the chance to work with equipment that would be used in a professional setting better preparing them for the future.

Some of the professors care if we pass and go higher, but others are so hard on us it's impossible to impress them.

No Program for Egyptology

There is no graduate program for archaeology at this school. While there are some great teachers, it is only a minor and there are few accomodations for people in this area of study for grad school. I have a great teacher who is teaching some classes in Egyptology but only because that is what she does. Don't come to MTSU for any type of archaeology grad school.
