Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

As the city of Murfreesboro expands, so do the dining options. A few years ago, this section would have been
given a lower grade as most of the restaurants were located along Old Fort Parkway and were less than
convenient to get to. Today, places such as Roly Poly and Gyro Café can be found along the backside of MTSU
on Northfield. This means you no longer have to drive through downtown and across Broad Street, which has
the longest light in town, to get a bite to eat. The increase of apartments around campus and the new Wal-Mart on
Northfield have been the antagonists to the increased restaurant development.

Things are changing so much in this small town— restaurants are moving around, new ones are popping
up every day, and the variety of food offered has greatly increased in recent years. There are several Mexican,
Italian, Chinese, and Greek restaurants, as well as Thai, Indian, and Caribbean. Since finding something to do in
Murfreesboro can be a struggle, going out to eat is an easy solution. La Siesta Mexican Restaurant is a favorite place
for students to study, meet, dine, and drink.

Food Is Decent but Not Always the Best

Much of MTSU's food is greasy, so one who is not used to such foods might not enjoy it too much. However, some it it, including the Subway sandwiches, are not too terribly bad. Service can sometimes be rude at some of the restaurants, but the open cafeterias like McCallie and the RaiderZone have nice people serving and if you're a regular, they'll remember you.

Toots Is the Best

There are many chain restaurants in addition to local restaurants. Toots is a must try because it has great affordable food and it has a great atmosphere.

A Lot of Fast Food

Mcdonalds, wendys, dunkin donuts, sonic, burger king, taco bell, subway, starbucks, etc. There are some really good local restaurants, but eating out is very expensive.

They also have olive garden type restaurants within reasonable distance.
