Not everyone is keen on the town of Murfreesboro, but almost everyone loves MTSU—it's a safe and rewarding environment. Feeling Safe – I've never been worried about my personal safety on campus. There are lights everywhere and the campus police is an obvious presence.

Whatever your taste, Murfreesboro probably has a restaurant for you. Thai, Mexican, Burgers, Chicken, Pizza. Both chain and local restaurants are within walking distance, and a short drive will take you to many more choices. Many local places give a 10% student discount.

Middle Tennessee State University Parking was reviewed by ajo2q

All students at MTSU have figured out by now that the parking is terrible. There seem to be plenty of available areas with parking passes but you have to find them and they are not always convenient. Also there is a minor confusion about time availability parking but everyone gets it wrong. Its supposed to be that the rules dont apply after a certain time of day but not many know the exact time. They are making improvements by adding the new parking garages to the school so all this trouble could be said and done. However standards are deserving of a D right now.

MTSU has a history of graduating well-prepared, passionate teachers who are looking to make a difference in their field of study. We are blessed to have a brand new building on campus with many great instructors. My one complaint wit the education program at MTSU is the amount of time the administration has added onto the degree process. Students must now teach a full year in the classroom before recieving their degree. I see the benefits to having more classroom expereince however there are many problems with this extra time. First, many sfull time students are also working full time to support themselves and sometimes even their families. Coming from someone who juggles both school and work on a regular basis, it is very scary knowing that I will not be able to work during my year of student teaching because I financially support myself. I have no idea where I will come up with money for the cost of living.other students who face the same problem, and are wondering how they too will pay for a place to live as well as food to eat during this time. I know many Second, the process in which a student applies for admittance into the education program is not clear. The MTSU College of Education is transtioning into their new program and many of the adjoining colleges on campus are unaware of this change. For example, I was misadvised four times into how to properly recieve admittance into the MTSU College of Education because my advisors were unaware of the process themselves. Finally, the extra time in student teaching means more money to pay back on student financial aid. For all of the problems I have encountered in the MTSU college of education, it has not stopped me from looking to persue my goals of someday becoming a teacher.
