Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Millikin is a very diverse campus, both in population and in the options that it offers. There are a variety of classes, both major specific and non-major specific. Greek life on campus is huge; roughly 25 percent of students on campus belong to a fraternity/sorority. Greek life itself is pretty diverse, and the student organizations on campus are vast, as well. There are around 100 organizations on campus. Due to the fact that Millikin is a small campus, there is a more personal experience for each student. To the staff, you are a person, not a number. It is a true one-on-one experience. One very important Millikin trait is that people are helpful with their assistance in financial aid. They truly work with students to make the education more affordable. There are many opportunities at Millikin, and truly, a student does blossom in so many ways.

Many students would choose Millikin all over again if they had the choice. It is a gorgeous campus, and it has a respectable education program. Millikin has many opportunities for career preparation, and they have many internships, as well. Millikin truly does prepare its students for the future. Millikin is unique because it has the one-on-one connection that is often not found at other schools. Millikin also believes in introducing a student to the major-related classes as soon as possible. Millikin is a unique and fantastic experience.

Little Need for Transportation

Because the campus is so small, there is little need for transportation on campus. However, because the neighborhood is not the best, Millikin provides free buses to get students around campus after it turns dark. It is very convenient.

Excellent Parking for Vistors - Not for Students

The parking for vistors is excellent. I have gone to schools where I cannot park anywhere; however, Millikin has many excellent spots for vistors. The problem is the parking for students. As someone who lives off campus, I cannot park anywhere on campus without getting a $50-$100 fine. The security people are extremely strict and not understanding.

Campus Housing at Millikin University

The Apartment Complex Causes Many Issues.

The dorms at Millikin are in good condition and the majority of them are newer and priced fairly. The apartment complex (The Woods) is extremely overpriced, and the majority of students have a poor experience in them. Millikin attempts to force any student that is not a Freshman into The Woods through the housing process they have. It is preferred to be in a dorm rather than the apartment complexes even though many upperclassmen would like to live on their own - just not at that price.
