I do not live in near campus. I live over 70 miles away.

My classes are virtual/online. The local Weather does not alter my experience.

I don't have a car on campus. So I don't pay the fees or worry about off-campus parking. I rate based on how far because I can visibly see that but other than that, I can't give a definite rating.

I like the atmosphere of the campus and I've met some great people. I don't like the bus system here though because it doesn't run all weekend or all night and not as frequently. However, it does get me to where I need to be so it's manageable. There are alot of great food places here to eat that are open til midnight for late night snacks. I would choose to come here again because it is not too far from home yet it is still close, the social scene is good, and the program I am in is top notch.

They have events held each Wednesday by the community advisers of each residence halls. They have Zumba classes three times a week, free of charge and a nice gym with open swim. The centennial student union is a great place to go to meet people, eat, go to the bullpen and play bowling, or just sit and do homework.

We have a great nursing program here and a business program as well. There is always stuff to do on campus and the library has very great hours, even being open til 2 AM during the week. All the buildings are connected on campus and there are alot of groups you can attend.

The campus is pretty accepting of its diversity. you wont be judged because of race, economic background, political beliefs, religion, or sexual orientation. the LGBT center at Mankato is one of the best in the nation.

The campus security is out to get you. They will never let you off the hook for any reason. They just want to get money for the school. My buddy got stopped by security for throwing a pop in the garbage. The security thought he was throwing away a beer he even searched through the garbage to find a beer.

There are a lot of computers around campus most of them are really slow, but they get the job done. It costs 10 cents per sheet. The wifi is always coming and going not very reliable, but the speed is alright.

I'm too young to get in to the bars, but the house parties are where its at.
College Freshman 2013-11-19T17:57:20Z
My biggest pet peeve about the parking is that the security is always roaming around looking for tickets to give. I don't go to my car everyday because my parking lot is about a 10min walk from the dorms. One time I parked my car on the line of a parking space and it sat there for 3 days and I racked up parking tickets. The costs of the parking tickets depend on how close to campus the parking lot is. I purchased one of the more affordable parking passes for about $180. Most of the other parking passes are around $230. You don't really need a car on campus since they have a free bus system. You would need a car if you wanted to get an off campus job though.

The houses downtown are pretty old, but they are big and more affordable then anywhere else (about $330/month rent plus utilities). College town is a gated community with fairly new, nice looking houses. The houses in college town are the most expensive (about $500/month plus utilities). Places like Jacob heights, summit, highland, and Usquare are other popular places to live and the rent to live there is around $400/month.

I feel like the school is trying to transform it's self and get rid of there reputation of being a "party school". I've noticed that the school security and staff will try their best to get you in trouble just so they can slap you with a fat ticket. Since I've came to Mankato I've paid over $100 in parking tickets and over $200 in "policy violations" mind you I've only been here for 2 months. I feel like there just trying to suck all the money out of your pockets

The summer, fall and spring are really nice, but the winters are too cold.
College Freshman 2013-11-19T17:36:29Z
The Greeks don't do much for the community. All they really do is throw parties and have there own events inside the Fraternities. You don't hear about sororities at all really. At Mankato girls in a sorority can't live in a house together because the school considers it a "whore house"

There are a lot of opportunities for students to get involved with athletics.
