I guess it all depends on your attitude towards cold weather. About 8 months out of the year, the temperature is below 50 degrees. Minot sees a fairly good amount of snowfall each year. However, the summers are beautiful.

Minot is a relatively small rural city. As such, if you are wanting an exciting nightlife, this is not the place for you. However, if you like the outdoors, it is perfect. Housing is very expensive due to the large number of oil companies in the area. Minot used to be very safe and we could leave our doors unlocked at nioght. However, in the past coulple years, crime has risen. DUIs are also a big problem here as many people think all there is to do is drink.

Public Transportation is okay. There are buses that run throughout the day but they have pretty specific routes. There are also a few inexpensive taxi services available 24/7.

Minot is a smaller city and there is a lot to do if you are more of an outdoors type of person. There are areas to go fishing, paintballing, and walking along the river. However, if you are looking for a more upbeat social gathering, this is not the city for you. There aren't a lot of clubs, and if there are some, you have to be 21 or older to get into them.

There isn't much Greek Life at Minot State. I previously went to UND and Greek Life was a vital part of campus. At Minot however it doesn't seem to be as significant. Personally, I prefer this.

I have yet to do internships (I am barely a Junior now). But pre-med program also do require research and work experience such as CNA (certified nursing assistance), med aids, or other medical field experience.

Getting into my biology/chemistry major which is pre-med program is fairly easy. But once you get in and studying is the hard part. Biology major requires a lot of hours outside of class hours in order to keep up in the higher grade level in class. The difficulties are that I have a part time job. Working and studying at the same time is quite hard in way of time managing. The most important criteria is yourself. Grades depend and reflect on your abilities.

I am satisfied with the major and minor I am going through. Biology and chemistry doesn't sound easy and it is tough but I don't have hard time going through the classes. For every new semester with new level or different type of science classes, it makes me excited to learn about human body, medicine, plants, animals, and other various classes. If I had to do it all over again, I will definitely choose this major/minor over and over. My career goal looks a little bit unclear as to know exactly what I want to do for the next 50 or 60 years but my short term goal for now is to get accepted to a med school.

In my opinion, Minot State University has very good biology/chemistry program. The school itself is very small compared to other universities where I grew up but that is the best thing about this college. Professors know you and your name and they are always willing to help you. Minot State University is expanding its size of the school and growing bigger providing more opportunities for students to do more field studies of their major and minor. This school has their unique set of environment which no other big universities would have in that aspects of where everyone gets to know about each other including professors and faculties.

I've noticed more public buses around town, but I have never utilized them myself (I have my own car). A lot of students will get rides with their friends, car pooling is big. But, if you live on campus you can walk everywhere unless you need to get groceries. The campus also offers a taxi that will pick you up for free if you are out somewhere and unable to drive back or get a ride back safely.

Sports on Minot State's campus aren't very big. We are getting better and we just moved to Division 2 which is very exciting, but provides tougher competition. I love sports and hope that our fan support will get bigger.

My first year I didn't receive any financial aid which was upsetting, but I feel it's because I decided to attend Minot late. The last two years I have progressively received more aid. I recommend filling out the aid application in January to make sure it gets in, in time and also look into campus work studies.

The teachers are very good. I have really enjoyed going to school at Minot State University for its academics.

The weather is very cold but overall it doesn't affect anything on campus they do a decent job of keeping the school in good shape.

Minot State is a very small campus. I give them props for always trying to have fun at the athletic events. We just got new equipment and the wellness center just got rebuilt.
College Sophomore 2012-12-03T18:41:50Z
Dining off campus can be very dull. There are not many options to choose from. If you have tried all of what there is, there are no more new options. It can get very boring. There are new restaurants opening up in the area, hopefully its something new and exciting for the younger crowds.

Minot State offers computer everywhere on campus. There is always open computers around campus and at the library. All the computers are connected to the printers. Laptops can be rented out to students. The network is usually fast. The Wifi can be slow at times when its connected to a cell phone. Overall Minot state has reliable computers and printers.

Guys & Girls:
The girls at this school like to get down and dirty or don't do it at all.

Minot is getting more restaurants around the campus, but not to much to choose from.

I feel EXTREMELY safe at the college. My professors and I are very close. The professors will throw parties at their house and invite people over. I have an individual and personal relationship with each of my professors.
There are places to shop...but there isn't nearly enough. There is not much to do around town that doesnt break the bank.
College Senior 2012-11-07T16:47:56Z
The Sorority just started THIS YEAR. They do not have a house, and its a $50 charge to join. I haven't heard much about them yet this year. They are trying to make it work. The Fraternity started last year and they have a few members and a very nice house. They hold parties and don't seem to do too much for the community but they try.
College Senior 2012-11-07T16:44:35Z
Nightlife is non-existant at Minot state. The college is too small to support a university-style nightlife. People over the age of 21 (and many under 21 year olds with fake IDs) will go to the bar but won't have a lot of fun. I usually have to drive to the university to go to Greek life parties. The University of North Dakota holds some very wild parties!

I am in the nursing program. the teachers are very nice and some of them are helpful. the teachers here at minot state tend to use power points for there lecters. this can be of great benefit sometimes because they tend to copy and paste directly from our text books. but then again some of the the teachers here more through there power points so quickly that they do not give you the chance to write eerything down. this style of teaching is just not for me. i tend to be a hands on kind of person and sometimes feel like i need more of an explaination; whch the teachers here tend to not provide.
College Sophomore 2012-10-28T18:42:10Z
Minot state university has a public bus stop right next to the campus. there are some place that you can walk to there are near the campus. however if you are a student and do not live on campus it is better to have your own vehicle or transportation because some places you need to go tend to be far. some students that do have there own vehicles and live on campus are nice enough to share rides with students that do not have there own transportation.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
