Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For as long as Misericordia has been a college, Greek life has never existed, nor will it ever exist on campus. Misericordia prides itself on its Catholic identity and follows four charisms: mercy, service, justice, and hospitality. Most students aren't concerned with the fact that there is no Greek system offered, but some students think it would be a great way to expand and create a better social life at the school. The lack of a Greek system does not go unnoticed because every time dorm surveys have to be filled out by resident students, one of the last questions usually asks about the Greek system.

While Greek life is missed, some of the male sports teams treat their team houses like fraternities (mainly the swim and lacrosse teams). The male sports teams definitely throw parties for students to make up for the lack of Greek life. Another place that seems to hold the ideals of a frat is the Field House, a local house near campus where mostly upperclassman guys live. Their parties are the closest thing to Greek life that Misericordia will ever see.
