The city of Monmouth does not have a whole lot to brag about. It is a farming community that dates back to the mid-19th century, but it does have its charm. There are a few decent restaurants, and some of the parks are quite nice. Unfortunately, there is a pet food plant in town that can cause an unpleasant scent to disseminate.
Galesburg has the important things that Monmouth doesn't, and the Quad Cities and Peoria are both a short hour away. Chicago is not too far, either.

Monmouth is a small farming town in western Illinois, so needless to say there isn't a whole lot to do. But Monmouth does offer all of the basic things a college students needs, such as bars and places to eat.

Great Small Town – Monmouth is a beautiful, safe feeling city. It is small, about 10,000 people, but has this great downtown area with many shops and stores. It has several grocery stores and retail shops in easy walking distance of the college campus. The citizens of Monmouth have a wonderful disposition to college students, and many buisnesses have college specials and discounts for students. Great place with many fond memories for this student!

The Best Way – In my school area we have several walk paths for students as well as the community. There is always something informative or just exciting happening at my school. We are in the middle of a big area and we pretty much take up a ton a space but the area none the less is completely awesome.
