College Prowler Take
By requiring freshmen to live on campus, MSU does everything it can to ensure its students will be well taken care of and meet plenty of people. The often over-worked Resident Advisors provide counseling for their residents, organize floor activities, and introduce students to each other. Oh, and they also write up residents for breaking any of the rules, the one aspect of their job that makes them slightly less popular. For students who want to party, the highrises on the west side of campus are their best choice. These include Roskie and the two Hedges, North and South. The walls are thin, the space is crowded, but friend-making opportunities abound. Roskie has a bit of a reputation for attracting the outdoorsy hippy type that like to smoke some illegal substances, and the hall has interesting, triangular rooms. The lowrises, including dorms such as Mullan, Langford, Hapner, Hannon, and the Quads are typically quieter than the other side of campus. The Quads are a favorite of the lowrises, and their residents do not normally venture out of the Quad courtyard to find a friend. The other lowrises are not quite so full of cliques, but many residents in these agree that they can find plenty of likeable people in their own building to hang out with. Overall, living on campus ends up being a highly-positive social and academic experience for first-year students, and some even return for another year or two.

Living in South Hedges was a lot...
Living in South Hedges was a lot like living at a seedy hotel of commerce—lots of activity without glitz or glamour. Hapner is supposedly haunted and built over the old Bozeman brothel. |

If you are looking for rowdiness, go to Roskie. Academic types belong in the Quads, and computer gamers live in Langford. Coed floors are generally much more sociable than single-sex floors and dorms. |

The dorms are a little sketchy on the highrise side of campus. Lowrise is much more spacious and a little more low-key. |

The Quads are the best on-campus...
The Quads are the best on-campus living, and Hannon food service is the best dining hall because it’s smaller. Very smart people live in the Quads, and they know how to have way too much fun. The Hedges are good for a very social environment because many people live there. Supposedly, a lot of international students live in Mullan. |

The dorms are a very active place to live. All dorms seem to fit someone’s lifestyle, so one can’t go wrong. |
