I haven't attended a sporting event yet, so I am not able to give it a grade.

I have not seen a lot of drug use at my school but I am not very active in my schools activities. I do know that for having a dry campus it has a lot of alcohol on campus. I have been told to not go to certain sports held parties because the men there have been know to slip something in the woman's drink. Like I said, I do not partake in any school parties.

I'm in the math and education programs at Morningside. I do not like the math program. They recently changed the times that the classes are offered and this has caused me to take two classes at the same times one day a week for a semester and I have had to take a pre-requisite class at the same time as the class it was a pre-requisite to. I do believe that the math program at Morningside is filled with very knowledgeable professors. They are very smart in their field for the most part. In the math program you can expect homework everyday. It is convenient that all of these classes are in the same building. The education department is better with their scheduling however I believe that they are lacking on the knowledgeable professors. I have had one professor teach me one thing to go to my next class and learn that what I just got taught is wrong. They need to get on the same page with their teaching. The workload is manageable with my other classes. They do require some practicum time (field experience) which can be hard to fit into the schedule beings it needs to be done during school hours and I have classes then.

I am going to give Morningside a B on transportation. The campus is small enough that you can walk from building to building. However, if you are injured or something you can catch a ride with campus security on a golf cart. I do know that Sioux City has a bus system and we have cabs however I do not know the cost of either because I commute in my car.

I have not had an internship and I do not plan on having one. Because I will be a teacher I will have to student teach. I have not found any internships through Morningside that I thought would be helpful to my career. I believe that they do have some good internship programs depending on your career.

As a math major at Morningside, I would do it over, somewhere else. They have caused me many headaches because they decided to change the math program there. I plan on becoming a math teacher and graduating in three years. I hope I can find a job in my field right after graduation because I will have all of my loans to start paying off. I have heard of a few students that have had a problem finding teaching jobs in Sioux City so I am slightly concerned about that.

I had to have an interview in order to get into the education department at Morningside. I believe that my ACT score determined if I got into the math department or not. Once I got into school, my adviser told me it would be simple for me to graduate in three years with a Secondary Math Teacher and a minor in special education. I started along the path that we had laid out together and after my first year at Morningside they decided to change the math program. I have ended up taking two classes at the same time on one day and I have also had to take a pre-requisite class with the class it was a pre-requisite to. They told me that one class I took would cover three of my flag requirements come to find out it only covers two. Needless to say, I will be able to graduate in three years with Secondary Math Education after taking a summer class and having 18 credit hour semesters all except one semester of 14 hours. Because they changed the math program it has made it so I can not get my minor in Special Education. I have found out that admissions would often tell you one thing just to find out the next day that it was something completely different. It will only mess with one year of students supposedly and only a few students but that happens to be me and I am less than satisfied with my college experience here.

We all have our own laptops and WiFi on campus. There are printers in all the residence halls that you can print on if you live there as well as copiers and printers in the library. There are also labs for the art/graphics students.

Parking on campus isn't the best. The lots are small. Most of them are reserved for specific people. It's between $75 and $80 dollars for a permit and depending on where you live, you don't always get to park in the lot. The Student Center Lot is reserved for faculty, visitors, and commuters, which I think is awesome for them to have a place since I know it's hard for a lot of the commuters to find a spot. I do wish there was a small little area that students who live on campus could park though. I know for me, it'd be nice if I could run in to get food before going to work and I can't since there is no parking over there for students on campus.

Everyone is pretty relaxed here. If your going to drink no one really cares, and the RA's policy is something like if your not being a pain or a danger to yourself and others, then go for it. No worries.

Most of the places to eat at around the campus are fast food and chain restaurants. There all good, and clean. I wish there was a little more variety.

Caf food is good. They different meal plans depending on how much you want to eat and can use your flex dollar at Bucks. They have chicken strips to fries to hamburgers. Good place to spend those flex dollars.

There is plenty of eating places near the college. From fast food to take out to sit down places. Most of them are pretty reasonable. Some have student discounts. Different varieties too. From pizza, Chinese, Mexican, and seafood.

The dorms are ok. The buildings are older but maintained pretty well. They've updated some areas . The dorms are centrally located. Some classes are across campus but not too far. They do need new microwaves and toasters on the floors.
College Sophomore 2013-07-28T00:54:00Z
There is parking if you have a permit but good spaces are hard to get. Off street is very hard to get by my dorm. Can't really drive to your classes cause very little parking for students.

There really isn't anything special it is a college that has a few activities on occasion.
College Senior 2013-06-02T18:12:58Z
If you live on campus you don't need transportation unless you need something - especially on the weekend because nothing on campus is open on the weekend. If you commute good luck parking.

The fact that they "give" everyone a computer is great except for the fact that you actually pay for them through your tuition and if you have any problems with it you are charged ridiculous fees to get it fixed at the tech services. Then printing you can only print on campus for free if you actually live on campus, but if you are a commuter then you have to pay to print. The campus has made improvements to the wifi, but it still seems to have down times - and slow spots especially in classrooms which makes it hard for professors to teach.

Morningside College's campus has a lot of green space but pretty much everything else about it isn't up to date at all and ceilings in buildings leak and there isn't air in most rooms. It is nice that some of the class sizes are smaller except not all teachers are overly concerned with the students and willing to help. There isn't all that much to do.
College Senior 2013-03-17T21:06:08Z
Everyone is extremely friendly and say hi when walking down the street. You always see people at the store, bowling, or at community center. It's a small school with a lot of pride and respect for each other

Restaurants are everywhere in Sioux City, you name it, they have it. There are not very many high quality, five star dining type restaurants however.
College Senior 2013-03-17T20:57:31Z
Everyone on campus has their own laptop and has campus wide Wifi. The connection is great and is only down when it is registration day. It is up and running in minutes though.

Our policy about alcohol is that it cannot be visible in common areas or it is confiscated for all ages. policies about underage drinking are reasonable. in the end all college policies are for the protection of the student and to ensure that academic life comes first.

I'm not too interested but I feel like for those who are its a good experience and our facilities are up to the task.

I only had to check back once to adjust my aid to tuition. They are really helpful to international students, but then again we only usually get one scholarship
Sorry, there are no reviews.
