| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
Go early and go often to the Career Development Center. They have tons of resources to help you out, but you’ll never know they’re there, unless you make the effort. The CDC has been slightly overlooked by students who view it as being out in no-man’s land on the edge of campus (actually, it shares a building with the Health Center), but it can be your best friend when you’re overwhelmed by all the options out there, and you have no idea how to break into your field of choice. Do some research in the library; make an appointment to talk to one of the career counselors; utilize the CDC’s online resources. If you start thinking about this when you’re a first-year (even if you don’t know quite yet what you want to do) you won’t find yourself in the position of a second-semester senior who visits the CDC for the first time with a panic-stricken look on her face and absolutely no idea what she’s going to do after graduation.
