The food at the dining halls gets worst by the years! I dont know if its because I'm tired of eating the food but its just crazy that I sometimes rather not eat than eat at the cafeteria. Carlson has good food but it also gets old eating the same greasy foods all the time. They definitely need an upgrade on food.

The Drug scene at Mount Ida College is I guess somewhat regular depending on who you hang out with. Drinking and smoking is usually popular on campus on Thursdays, other than that who ever does drugs just smokes it on their own times not many students though.

i dont think the college campus is too strict. There are a lot of things that go on and if nobody is getting hurt then there is no reason to ruin what we are king.
College Junior 2013-07-24T17:23:46Z
we have a wide variety of labs and facilities. We have an embalming room which i will be using in my labs. We also have a new state of the art work out room and new buildings are being put up as i type.

if i could start all over again i definitely wouldn't. Going through college once is hard enough even though i enjoy my major.
College Junior 2013-07-24T17:20:15Z
i love the major i have there are very little kids in it and i get a lot of hands on experience and one on one with my teachers
College Junior 2013-07-24T17:18:53Z

I'm not much into sports on campus, but I do know that Mount Ida doesn't go very far in championships. If you want to play a sport just to enjoy the experience, Mount Ida has a more laid-back atmosphere to the sports-scholarship students that makes the game enjoyable, with an equal amount of competitive and playful teammates.

The shuttles are on a set schedule, but a barren, strict one. They only come once an hour with very large gaps between lunch hours and dinner hours. Once I was stranded at the grocery store for 4 hours because the shuttle that came didn't have any room on it from the other people being picked up after the dinner break. The shuttle also does not run past 11pm at night, and once a friend of mine was refused entry onto the shuttle even though the shuttle was driving by where she was. She had to walk back to campus at 11:30 at night.

The parking lots on campus are thrown into random areas that may be considered convenient, but only to members living on campus. Commuters trying to park outside of a classroom may have to commute very far in order to get to their classes, especially if their classrooms are across campus. Two of the main academic buildings have no parking lot availability nearby, so even the teachers are often caught between a rock and a hard place.

The area is more diverse than I expected it to be, but not as much as other schools in the area. Racial and ethnic diversity is still a minority, even with the extensive international student population. However, the campus is very accepting of people of all creeds and backgrounds, including a very vocal LGBT group.

With the exception of the dental hygiene program I would never recommend this school to anyone. The way I have been treated by the administrative staff is horrendous. Any questions or concerns I've had have been met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. If I ever spoke to or treated people the way I have been treated there I would be out of a job. I was consistently misinformed and misled. I decided to take classes to further my education and go to graduate school as well but did not learn all that I was hoping to or needed to because the professors intimated that the administration asked them to slow down the course and material to ensure everyone would pass. Unlike many of the students in my specific classes I was there to learn and not just to receive a passing grade. The amount of money they charge for tuition does not seem right for the education I received or for the treatment I encountered. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement.

The professors are generally great but unfortunately the school administration is far from great. So much so that despite the great grade I would give the professors, I feel I can only give a D- in this area. It is disorganized (they lost my transcript twice) and I was constantly misinformed. Most of my questions and concerns were not taken seriously, and never once did anyone take accountability or apologize for mistakes that were made.

With the exception of the dental hygiene program I had a very disappointing experience at Mt.Ida college. The administration was far from helpful and was at times rude. I intend to apply to graduate school so I attended my science classes with the intention to learn rather than to just receive a grade. This was not the purpose of many of the other students however, and as a result the teachers intimated that they were asked by the school to slow the class and material down so everyone would pass. As a result I did not learn all the material I need and am struggling to catch up and teach myself. When I look at the tuition bills I've paid and compare that to the education I received it is very disheartening. The teachers themselves are great, but in many ways they are stopped from teaching the way it seems they would like to. If I ever spoke to or treated people at work the way I've been treated at this school I would be out of a job.

Health & Safety:
There is always a newsletter sent out every week about health and how to maintain a good health and become healthy. We have plenty of intramurals on campus to make students active, but the food can affect it on some days. Drinking is strict, which makes the campus not as fun, but it prevents injuries and issues on campus.
College Junior 2013-04-07T20:21:14Z
It is not that bad. Just make sure to get a parking spot before the day classes start, and there are some areas where it is impossible to park.
College Junior 2013-04-07T20:18:35Z
Res life is strict with everything that goes on in this campus. Public safety takes a lot of things too seriously that are not even the slightest bit that bad at all. Res life will get you in trouble for the smallest things.

We do not have any fraternities or sororities at the school.

There are people of many different races and religions at OSU, but they comprise a negligible percentage of the student body.
