Diversity is an area Mount Vernon Nazarene University does not see a lot of—though it does exist. Students of all political, religious, and economic backgrounds attend the school, but other ethnic representations are not commonly found. The few minority students that attend MVNU find the school to be fairly accepting, and the Cross-Cultural Club helps these students get involved and gain a foothold in the campus community.

Many of the diverse students come to the school on athletic scholarships, and since students are fans of sporting events, they gain fans and friends of their own through such participation. The friendships made on campus, however, do not typically discriminate or vary based on economic status or political or religious background. Students are welcoming of all circumstances. Clubs vary based on interests and cultures, which help students get more involved in raising awareness of these unique upbringings. While certain students may gain more financial aid based on minority issues or being of Nazarene background, the school does not discriminate against those who are different.
