Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you are looking for a school with small classes and professors who give students individualized attention, you are in luck—Muhlenberg's enthusiastic and friendly faculty is considered one of the College's hallmarks. Sure, students will encounter the occasional exception, but, for the most part, professors are always eager to help and to get to know their students. On the first day of class, many professors will hand out a syllabus that includes their office hours and phone number. And, since many live close to campus, some professors may invite your class to their house for study parties or other miscellaneous events. Also, if a student shows special interest or talent in a subject, professors take the initiative to offer research or internship opportunities, which allow students to hone in on their interests. Keeping this in mind, professors will notice and care if you skip or fall asleep in class. Professors want their students to succeed, and they don't like to see any of their students fall behind.

Muhlenberg offers a wide variety of interesting courses. But the fact that the school is most well known for its pre-med, theater, and dance programs is a testament to Muhlenberg's academic diversity. The purpose of a liberal arts education is to teach students how to think about and appreciate various subjects. Many students would agree that Muhlenberg accomplishes this task.

Pre-Med Sciences

I'm currently a Pre-Med freshman working towards a Neuroscience major with a Mathematics minor. The professors in the sciences are amazing and honestly care about the subject they teach and the students in the class. Professors care that you understand the material and are working to help you in the future. The sciences here are not a walk in the park, but they are not incredibly daunting, if you use the resources on campus and study hard you will succeed.

Professors are incredibly accessible...

I've never had trouble seeing any of my professors during office hours or otherwise. They enjoy getting to know their students and the goals each students has in plan for their future. I am constantly challenged by the workload but I never feel overwhelmed. Overall I have been extremely satisfied.

For the most part, the faculty at Muhlenberg is amazing. I have gone to speak with almost all of my professors after class to discuss potential paper topics and even potential careers. I had one professor for two of my classes one semester and I went to bounce ideas around with him after class and I ended up deciding on a topic that had nothing to do with what I went in with but I ended up loving researching it. Classes are definitely challenging since professors are so close to students they know their potential and won't settle for anything else but work is very manageable. I am a psychology major and the department is fantastic, very interesting classes and great faculty.
