College Prowler Take
Muhlenberg prides itself on its combination of strong academics and a caring community. Unlike some larger colleges, there are no teaching assistants who actually teach you the material you are responsible for knowing. Although there will obviously be a few professors who students don’t like, the thing that stands out the most about Muhlenberg professors is how extremely accessible and personable they are. Most professors give out their home phone numbers on the first day of class, and you shouldn’t be surprised if professors even invite you to their houses. Professors are eager to do anything they can to help you with a class by meeting with you during office hours or by appointment. A large majority of the professors live near the campus, and it is not unusual to see them in the city or around campus just hanging out or attending student events. Keep in mind that since the professors know their students well, they notice when you skip class or fall asleep. If you are looking for professors who will give you individual attention and genuinely care about your progress, you are in luck.
Along with this excellent personal support, Muhlenberg offers students a variety of academic opportunities. While Muhlenberg is known for its excellent pre-med program, it is also well known for theater and dance. It is this type of academic diversity that makes Muhlenberg a great place, not only to learn facts, but also to learn how to think and understand many different fields of learning.

Some professors are really good at making meaningful presentations that keep students engaged and interested. Those are the professors I try to take again. Others are just very boring, and the hour and 15 minutes twice a week seems like an eternity. When I encounter those professors, I avoid taking classes with them again. |

One of the strongest advantages Muhlenberg provides is the availability of professors. One semester in, I already feel that I know at least a few professors well enough to ask them for recommendations. The professors I have come into contact with have really seemed to care a great deal about their students, both in and out of the classroom.

I know that my experiences with my professors have been totally different than experiences at other colleges. The professors at Muhlenberg go out of their way to get to know each student. They want to know what your life is like, and they want to help you in any way they can. I never hesitate to go to my professors with any questions I have, or sometimes, I go to them just to get some advice. |

One of the best parts of...
One of the best parts of Muhlenberg is the enthusiasm coming from the professors. It makes going to class fun. You remain a name rather than a number. Some professors require you to call them by their first name because they’re more like friends and mentors than lecturers. |

At some schools, you can go through an entire semester without a professor even knowing your name. At Muhlenberg, your professors will remember things about you years after you take their class. |
