Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Muhlenberg’s facilities, in short, are gorgeous. And the school’s recent renovations have only helped. Seegers Union has received its most recent upgrade and is currently all the rage. Most students go into Seegers every day to check mail, visit the bookstore, grab a bite, or speak with faculty at one of the many offices. The buildings along Academic Row alone have an interesting mixture of styles, varying from very modern (New Science Building) to very Gothic (Egner Memorial Chapel). As for study spaces, students enjoy spending time in Trexler Library, with its bright atmosphere and comfy couches; it only feels claustrophobic during midterms and finals. Also, Muhlenberg’s theatre, dance, and music students are very proud of the Baker Center for the Arts and the Trexler Pavilion. These two buildings house the school's top-notch stages. So, the time spent in rehearsals can be a bit more enjoyable in this beautiful space.

Most students have so much praise for Muhlenberg’s academic buildings. But many would agree that they equally enjoy spending their free time on the lawn when the weather is warm. The trees along Academic Row really enhance Muhlenberg’s scenery, and the simple landscaping throughout campus works nicely with the eclectic architecture. All in all, Muhlenberg continues to find ways of expanding and improving upon its facilities. There will always be new eye candy for students to ogle every year.

Athletic Facitiies

The workout equipment is good and there is always enough available. The laundry service for my women's basketball team has been adequate and nice that i do not have to worry about washing my own uniform.

The overall appearance of the campus is attractive and has an old charm to it.

Theatre Facilities

The Trexler Pavillian, Center for the Arts, and Rehearsal House contain two full size theatres, a full black box studio theatre, multiple dance and theatre studios and rehearsal halls, as well as a fantastically equipped tech portion. The scene shop, costume shop, lighting equipment, and prop equipment allow for incredible broadway level production capabilities. The professors are very friendly and willing to help, and a number of them are currently acting in New York, so as to offer a great resource for post college opportunities. An overall phenomenal space for rehearsal, study, and performance of theatre.

Brand New!

Muhlenberg just renovated a large portion of the facilities in our student union, and it has definitely improved the quality of life here on campus. The food is better, the atmosphere is brighter, and spirits are higher. Our classrooms and library are all up to date with technology. The campus is beautiful regardless of the season, and everything is within great walking distance of each other. Activities on campus happen frequently and are a direct result of hardworking students who want everyone to have fun.

Facts

"Green" Initiatives

There are numerous, active student groups and programs that always host activities to raise environmental awareness at Muhlenberg. The Garden Committee is a group made up of faculty, staff, and students who created (and are currently planting) Muhlenberg's Community Garden. The Committee is also working on making the garden have the ability to compost pre-consumer waste.
The Environmental Action Team (EnAcT) is a student group that helps develop all sorts of "green" initiatives. For example, their most recent accomplishment was passing the "Just Tap It" initiative to reduce the amount of bottled water Muhlenberg consumes.
Also, environmentally-savvy upperclassmen have the option of living in the Sustainability House, where the goal is to reduce energy, food, and waste.

Favorite Things To Do

On an average day, the most popular thing to do on campus is probably hang out in Seegers Union. When the weather is nice, students take advantage of the lawn and at the tables in Parents Plaza. Many students are also found playing ultimate Frisbee throughout the warmer months. The Life Sports Center has a weight room, cardio room, swimming pool, and other amenities for students. For entertainment, there are always music or theater performances at the Baker Theater and Trexler Pavilion; just about every weekend students can watch a play, musical, band, dance show, or singing performance. Also, the Red Door in Seegers hosts many student performances or free movies throughout the year. Otherwise, the Muhlenberg Activities Council (MAC) does a great job of hosting free entertainment for students, including stuff-a-plush and sand art. MAC's most popular events are the big-name band concerts and comedians who come each year.
