Parking Permits
It’s relatively easy to get a parking permit. During the first few days of the year, you will see signs listing the dates and times to register and buy a permit. There is no need to apply; everyone who is an upperclassman can get a permit if they fill out the form and pay the $25. Just take your student ID and car registration and insurance information to campus safety in the basement of Prosser. They will give you a colored sticker to put on your car; you are allowed to park in specific lots depending on the color of your sticker. Freshmen are not allowed to bring their cars to the college.
College Prowler Take
Parking is probably among the biggest complaints about the Muhlenberg campus. As a freshman, you are not technically allowed to bring cars onto campus without getting special permission from the director of campus safety. Some people are able to get this by claiming that they need a car for health reasons or in order to get to a job they already have. To legally have a car on campus, you need to register your car and pay a registration fee. The fee is $25 for the year, so at least it is not too expensive. At registration, you are given a parking permit which is a specifically colored sticker which corresponds with specific lots on campus that you are allowed to park in.
Unfortunately, not all of the dorms have lots near them. However, the campus is small, so it is rare that the lot would be more than a few minutes’ walk. Just because you have a sticker does not mean you are guaranteed a spot in one of the lots. After your first year, the school doesn’t do anything to limit the number of cars on campus, resulting in far more cars than spaces. Depending on the time of day, it is quite possible that you will find yourself circling the lots, looking for spots for up to 15 minutes before you either get lucky or make the decision to chance a ticket by parking somewhere else, like the street. The worst time of the year for parking is during the winter because there are certain streets that you cannot park on with snow, and the snow always ends up taking up spots in the lots.

Because it is such a small school, there is not a lot of parking. Freshmen aren’t supposed to bring cars, but a lot of them bring them anyway. Parking is limited, but there are so many residential streets surrounding the campus that you can always park on the street and be fairly safe. |

It is definitely not easy to park here! Parking spaces are not easy to come by, so when you find one, you do not want to move! The good thing, though, is that the parking pass is so inexpensive compared to other schools. |

Parking has been fine overall for me. There have only been a few times that I haven’t been able to find a spot in a lot, and then I just go to the street. Learn to parallel park—it will help you immensely! |
