College Prowler Take
Students at Muhlenberg agree that the campus is very safe. It is rare to hear of any crimes occurring on campus or in the immediate areas surrounding the campus. While most people would not recommend walking around parts of Allentown alone at night, even the most paranoid students feel comfortable walking anywhere on campus at any time. Just in case you do get worried, you can usually spot one of the campus safety vehicles or an officer on foot at most times of the day and night. You can even call campus safety and get someone to escort you to your room if you are really nervous. The emergency phones are also always readily available, as they are spread out all over campus. On the other side, it is also nice that security isn’t overly strict either. While some schools have really inconvenient policies about having guests, Muhlenberg’s security is more realistic and trusting of its students. Each dorm requires a student to use their ID to gain access to their building, but you do not need to go through any other security points. You are able to have guests, and you are only asked to register them if they are staying overnight.
Like all institutions with a large number of people, Muhlenberg is not immune to all cases of crime; however, the overall atmosphere of the campus is very safe. Most incidents that you hear about concern relatively minor acts of vandalism and are usually not a reason to become overly upset. The environment of a close community and the visible presence of campus safety combine to make Muhlenberg’s campus a comfortable and secure place to live.

I feel like I see campus police everywhere I go. Sometimes, I even see them when I’m off Muhlenberg campus just driving around! At times, I think that’s a little weird, but it’s also nice to know that they’re available if I ever did feel nervous about my surroundings. |

I think the campus security is amazing. They are very friendly people and committed to student safety, and they seem to be quite effective. Realistically, we can’t expect them to stop every crime or danger, but they seem to do well. |

Overall, Muhlenberg has a very safe campus. I would feel comfortable walking almost anywhere on campus alone at night. If you don’t for some reason, there is a service that can shuttle you around campus. |

Security and safety is good, but it’s not overboard so that’s nice. I feel safe walking around alone at night, but I also appreciate that I don’t have to go through tons of security measures to bring off-campus friends into my dorms. When you see what some other schools make you go through just to visit a friend in a dorm, it makes you happy that Muhlenberg is able to trust its students while keeping them safe. |
