College Prowler Take
The most common mode of mass transportation used at Muhlenberg is the Muhlenberg Shuttle. A lot of people resort to taking the shuttle as freshmen because it’s cheap, convenient, and will take you to the well-known areas of Allentown. Although, it can be a little embarrassing to arrive in the shuttle, you do what you have to do. It’s also more fun if you go with a group of people; then you’re not the only one getting out of the vehicle. After being on campus for a while, you’ll meet people who have cars. This is obviously preferred over taking the red van or yellow school bus. As far as public transportation goes, most students stay away from it, with the exception of the airport. The Lehigh Valley International Airport is very convenient as it only takes about 15 minutes by car to reach it. Public transportation is not widely used at Muhlenberg because it isn’t very convenient for most students. The bus and train stations are not within a close distance, so you would usually need to find some type of transportation just to get to them. Because of this, most people only use buses and trains when they need to get out of Allentown and don’t want to fly. Most people either have cars or know people who have cars. If you don’t have access to a car, plan on walking or hanging out with Shuttle Steve.

I really don’t know much about public transportation in Allentown. I felt like I was really pushed to either stay on campus or take the Muhlenberg Shuttle my freshman year. This isn’t bad because there’s a lot of free stuff to do on campus, and a lot of freshmen stay around on the weekends. After I had my car on campus, I started to go out a lot more. |

Freshman year, most people are in the same boat you are. You can bond over taking the shuttle together. After that, it’s nice to have a car or know someone who has a car on campus. Keep in mind that there are a lot of places near enough that you can always walk, too. Sometimes, it’s fun to walk even if you have a car. |
