College Prowler Take
The weather in Allentown fits the stereotypical descriptions of the four seasons. It’s nice to see how the campus looks different as the seasons change. Walking down Academic Row, you can see how the trees lining the walkway change color throughout the year. You’ll need to bundle up in the winter, and you’ll sweat in the summer. Fall and spring are really nice because they fall pleasantly in between the two extremes. It’s nice that campus is so small when bad weather hits because you really don’t need to walk very far to get to anything you need. When it’s nice out, the whole campus just seems busier and more alive. You’ll see crowds of people hanging out, or eating at the tables in Parents Plaza, and a lot of people go out on the lawn to do work, play games, or just relax on blankets. When packing for the climate, you should bring a range of clothing. You will want everything from shorts and tank tops, to heavy coats and gloves. If you aren’t lucky enough to be in a dorm with air-conditioning, you will definitely want to bring a fan for the beginning and end of the year. While some places can claim that they have a dry heat, Allentown’s summers are hot and humid. This can make the dorms quite sticky. With the exception of some fluke snowstorms that came really late these past couple of years, the snow isn’t usually too bad. You’ll be cold walking to class, but you don’t usually need to worry about being snowed in.

The weather here is the same as it was at my home. Sometimes, we’re a few degrees cooler because we’re in a valley, but overall, it’s nothing special. The weather here is typical Pennsylvania weather, I guess. |

We don’t go to school in sunny Florida, and we don’t have amazing snow for skiing. Allentown does have a good balance of everything in between, though. You’ll have some hot days and some cold. It will rain, and it’ll be sunny. You should come prepared for it all. |

The beginning and end of the school year are hot, especially if you don’t have air-conditioning in your dorm. Winters aren’t exactly sub-zero, but they’re not warm, either. It usually snows, which makes for some great sledding and some hilarious anatomically correct snowmen. |

The weather changes drastically with the seasons. I would bring clothes for every type of weather. In August and September, it can be pretty hot. In the winter, it gets pretty cold and sometimes snows. The past few years, we’ve had some major snow as late as April. I would be prepared for anything. It’s also good to know that Muhlenberg’s located in a valley, so it’s windy almost all of the time. |

I’d recommend snow boots in the winter, and a blanket to sit on outside in the sun. Expect snow in the winter and to sweat in the summer, and bring a fan. |
