In definate need of a major make over. The school has been around for a long time (early 1900's). It looks like the 1970's, the last time anything has been done to it.

The campus is very small (only 9 building total). A lot of the facilities are older and are in the process of being updated. The campus would definitely benefit from having a student center that had some sort of food and seating area for students to use during lunch or breaks between classes. The library is small, but functional, with approximately 10 group study rooms, open tables and private study areas. There is a workout area that the students can use as well as a gym, but both are very out of date.

The parking on campus is pretty much a nonissue. There are 4 separate lots that off campus students can park in and it is very rare that they are full. Permits are fairly inexpensive ($12 for the year last time I think) and I have never heard of anyone receiving a ticket or fine.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe at the campus. It is located in safe suburb that has very little crime.

It's Much Better Than It Seems – A lot of graduate students believe that living on-campus would daunting, but it's far from it. National University's on-campus apartments are quite a luxury when you take the time to consider the practicality of it. Aside from the maximum five minute walk to an from class, there are so many obvious aspects of living on-campus that tend to be over looked when considering where to live.
The fist benefit is cost efficiency. Living on-campus is a one bedroom apartment is way is about the same cost of rent in the surrounding apartment complexes. However, rent on-campus includes one basic cable box and internet in the cost, so there are no additional bills there. Not to mention, commuting in not necessary saving you a fortune on gas. The only traveling I do, is get groceries, which wouldn't even be necessary if I wanted to shop at the adjacent Jewel that is literally, right beside campus. This is extremely helpful when it's snowing and you don't have the energy to dig out your car :o)
Another bonus is a health benefit as the campus has a Whole Health Clinic on-campus with supervised naturopathic, oriental medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic and massage students as well as an allopathic doctror on staff. Once again, commuting else where is not necessary. Walgreen's is also across the street from campus, which means that I don't have to drive to pick up any medications as well.
Lastly, aside from the blaring great attributes associated with living on campus there is one minor set back. The internet here is unfortunately based on an ethernet cable but I have been told that we are on our way to receiving wireless router's for the apartments!
There are many other things about living on campus that I could write about, but this is just food for thought. Some of the apartments are pet-friendly, there are children and families on-campus, 24 hour security and parking is available. Needless to say, living on campus is just the logical thing to do if you plan on maximizing your time for studies and fun and National University of Health Sciences is one of the only chiropractic schools that provides this as an option.

I have enjoyed NUHS so far. The class size is fairly small so I am able to get to know my classmates. Be prepared for studying the majority of the time. It is hard work but I know it will be worth it in the end.

Housing in Lombard – It was a little difficult to find available housing. What is available is fairly expensive unless you are able to find a roommate.

Parking is pretty good. The cost of a permit is cheap and spots can easily be found. It is not a far walk from the parking lot to classroom buildings

Since i have class at night, not getting out of class until 10:00-10:30 PM, I tend to have to eat after class. I find that although there are a lot of restaurants in the vicinity of the campus, not many of them are still open. Mainly just fast food restaurants are open.

Campus Conputers – Though I do not use them on a daily basis, I believe the computers on campus to be well maintained and very useful to other students.

There are some get together activities on campus, but as a whole not very impressive. There is no competition against other schools. The biggest attractions are soccer, basketball and volleyball.

Guys & Girls:
Friendly All Around – The school is so small that you will eventually get to know the faces of everyone. The people in your class will become your close friends. Everyone is friendly and there are many opportunities to socialize.

Great Variety – There is many places to eat along Roosevelt road. Variety includes: pizza, pitas, gyros, burgers, many sit down restaurants and plenty of sports bars.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
