Campus Strictness at New College of Florida

Compared to most colleges, refreshingly lax

You never have to worry about RAs getting you in trouble for having overnight guests or smoking ganja. Ever. In fact, during orientation I smoked a bowl with my RA in her room.

The only thing they were slightly strict about was, oddly, furniture placement during room inspections. I have moved my bed and was charged $200 because the new placement was a "fire hazard."

Pretty Decent Parking

Permits are a little expensive, but if you purchase a ncf license plate for your car you don't have to pay for a permit. There are reduced cost permits but they are farther from the dorms. Driving to class is not necessary, although some students drive anyway. Having a car to get off campus is pretty vital though. The county bus system has on campus stops, and students ride for free, but it is timely and the buses do not run very late.

Weather at New College of Florida

It's January 20, and I Forgot That It's Winter.

The Sarasota weather is amazing. It rarely dips below 80 in the daytime, and a freeze is a rarity. I have 7 pairs of shorts and 2 pairs of jeans (to get me through the 7-day-long winter). Bring *a* long sleeve shirt and jeans, just in case. It does get incredibly sweaty in the summer, which has 90 degree temperatures and 80-90% humidity.
