| Advice on Finding a Job/Internship | |
The Center for Career Education is not terribly helpful with finding a job or internship. They will offer leads every once in a while, which will prove to be helpful to a certain number of students. Occasionally, students are informed of internship and job opportunities via student email. There's a relatively small alumni network, but they make up for their size in their deep investment and connectedness to current students and the campus in general. The truth is, New College is like a grad school/prep school, so very little is done to improve its pre-professional and vocational services. One of the main qualities that New College seeks to promote within students is a sense of independence and self-sufficiency. Many students do just fine finding internships and post-graduate employment on their own through the Internet or word of mouth. Still, this is a New College service with definite room for improvement.
