Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Now that the University of South Florida has officially left the scene, parking will be less of a problem at New College. Few other schools can say the same thing.

With the completion of the new dorms on campus, parking immediately surrounding them has become difficult to find. This results in people having to park in the Sudakoff lot. Having an official State of Florida NCF license plate entitles a student to receive a free parking permit, which is tremendously convenient. There are lots adjacent to every major area, including dorms, classrooms, and the library.

Parking Is Fine, I Guess?

I forget what I payed for my parking permit, but I remember it seemed average. There is a lot of parking on campus, and I think that a car is completely unnecessary unless you plan on driving out of town or something. Pretty much everything in town is within biking distance and I much prefer to bike around than drive.

Pretty Decent Parking

Permits are a little expensive, but if you purchase a ncf license plate for your car you don't have to pay for a permit. There are reduced cost permits but they are farther from the dorms. Driving to class is not necessary, although some students drive anyway. Having a car to get off campus is pretty vital though. The county bus system has on campus stops, and students ride for free, but it is timely and the buses do not run very late.

Plenty of Room for Everyone

See title. As someone who receives plenty of parking fines, I can tell you that they aren't too bad. If you aren't driving between school and home there isn't too tremendous a need for a car (cf. nightlife.)
