Public transportation is extremely affordable. It's excellent. The buses don't run all hours (last I knew), but they're open most hours and six days a week. It's in walking distance to the bus stops.
The campus could use more accessible routes to different locations. That's about it. I have had no problems with it.

I'm not a fan of fraternities and sororities by any means due to sadly accurate cult stereotypes. I am told by numerous people within and not in Greek life that the groups are pretty tame and don't pressure students on campus. I'd have to agree that I have not felt pressure to be apart of anything like that. I have to applaud them for that. Students rep their groups and it can be obnoxious due to the frequency of it, but that's about it. They do help the community more than I expected and don't have "ragers" as the stereotypes suggest.

Dorms are within exceptional reach to classes, dining accommodations and the student center. It's ideal. I am not a fan of the dorm size and bathrooms. Sharing a bathroom with a floor of people is common, but not fun. The cost is higher than needed. Bathrooms could use an increase in cleaning along with more spacious stalls. I adore getting to know a lot of people on your floor because of the close proximity.
I know girls have a tougher time due to drama surrounding floors. This occurs at every college though, but worth noting.
Overall It's enjoyable, but could use work on bathrooms and more spacious living spaces.

My school is fantastic with technology and it makes other campuses seem laughable. We don't have a lot of buildings, but it's near perfect for students dependent for wi-fi, printing, music or any other need. Most technical schools do not have hands on learning your first semester. NESCOM allows you to have core classes with hands on learning right off the bat. The social scene is more diverse than expected. You have a previous notion of "nerds" consuming most of the groups, when there is an eclectic diversity amongst peers. Smaller classes allow for students to actually know their professors and have them remember their name! Most colleges do NOT have that.

The community around campus is close and friendly. The facilities are kept well and provide a positive environment to study and hang out without worrying about your surroundings. The library is diverse, helpful and quiet. It's an ideal place to study. Our athletic centers are open at reasonable hours and even late in the night! Even with a car, I'd rather stay on campus due to the environment and events going on. Every night there is something to do. It's a solid, realistic place with a blend of comfort and applying yourself to new surroundings.

There is the BAT bus which, if you are a student and you have I.D, is free. It tends to be here on time and definitely gets you around... it's the waiting in the cold that stinks.

The academics offered are very specialized. For each major is a specialized curriculum. There are general education requirements that every student has to take but in terms of your concentration, it's very hands-on, focused learning. The registration for classes could be improved. It's first come first serve basis which can make it difficult for upperclassmen to get the classes they need to graduate.

The local atmopshere of Bangor isn't really a college town feel. It's a small city that is more directed at the families and companies in the area. Downtown has a few pubs and bars that are fun to hang out at if you're old enough. There is a mall, but it gets old after awhile.

The parking situation at the school is in desperate need of improvement. For the amount of money they charge for a decal, there are not enough parking spots on campus to make it worth it. Many students are late to classes because of the lack of parking on our campus.

Greek life plays a big role on our campus. There are six different greek organizations. Each group is constantly tabling and organizing events to benefit different charities. The groups are working to create a better unification of the Greeks on campus.

Parking is horrible. If you aren't there early you are not going to get a spot.

Campus security can be strict about underage drinking and drug use, but normally nobody gets caught often, so you will have drunk people wandering the hallway or you can smell pot on the hallways. If you campus security for any reason they are normally slow to respond.

Being in northern Maine it snows a lot and it very windy no matter what season. In the beginning of school and end of school the wind helps with the heat, but in the winter the weather can get a bit chilly. When it's nice outside a lot of people like to hang out outside.

If I had questions about my financial aid or anything in that department they were always there to help. If I emailed them with questions they would get right back to me.

I cannot explain the housing on campus because I have never lived there.

Applying to the New England School of Communications is very easy. You just fill out an application, write a quick essay, and you're accepted.

I feel the policies are the same as any other college.

I do not live off campus so it would not be fair for me to comment

There are plenty of options outside of campus, and with our dining dollars we can go to select few places to use our campus money there or even get a certain amount of money off foods.

the financial aid process is such a hassle if anything is out of place, or someone didn't receive the mail they were supposed to. once it's all said and done everything is ok, but the process is something else.

Since the campus is growing, there are a lot more places to have fun and interact. the gym, fields, and other places are great ways to stay in shape, have fun, or even get some studying done. there is a time and place for everything, and they make it so everyone has a chance to use the facilities.
College Senior 2013-01-15T18:13:49Z
There are Greeks withing the campus but not many, and they aren't really outgoing, only one fraternity stands out while the others are just there to recruit and continue Greek life. people see them and some may catch interest and others may not, but that's just how attractive it is.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
