the school provides many activities for students on and off campus. there are many places for students to hangout, however the library doesn't seem to have enough space to accommodate the students.

i do not drive, being in the city it is easier and cheaper to take public transportation.

New York City is one of the greatest places to live. There is always something to do, and it is every student friendly. The school is across the street form Central Park a beautiful place to have lunch and relax.

Health & Safety:
I go to a School in New York City, there are 4 building in total. I have never walked into a building without security. I feel safe not just because they are there but because they are attentive. They recognize the student and staff, and are always available to help.

It is a little bit scary outside of school at night because there are not so many lights on the street. Moreover, there are not many transportation at night. However, it seems students in here are good and responsible.

There are a lot of restaurants around campus. Therefore, it is easy for us to go out and eat. However, some of restaurants are expensive so it is a little bit problem for students.

NYIT has a diversity students from different countries. However, there is no discrimination around here. Everybody takes care of each others. I met a girl from Georgia on Facebook. She has not met me until August 29th. However, she still helps me and gives me a good advice. Moreover, not only helping me, she also helps all the new students who have come here. Furthermore, new students talk, ask each others to become more friendly although it is the first time we met.

There are some really good places to eat around campus but everything is very expensive.

Guys & Girls:
Most of the girls I've encountered at school are not very friendly with the except of 2 girls that i've managed to become really close to. Most of the girls though tend to keep to themselves rather than be close with anyone. The guys are friendlier. I've come to realize that my major is mostly men so I'm surrounded by more men than women.

Being a huge city can create a lot of diversity. In fact, most of the people that I have met at NYIT were not even American born which is what I find most interesting. Surprisingly, despite how diverse NYIT is, all the different ethnicities seem to get along pretty well. Everyone is pretty accepting of each other.

Our school is an alcohol free school, even if you are of age. The RAs are strict on drinking in the dorms and will write you up if they catch you. And then you'll have to go to an AA meeting held within the school.

Students post roommate request forms around the school, but the school itself doesn't help with off campus housing.

There is not much Greek Life at NYIT, nor does it affect my college experience.

Nightlife in Manhattan is something else, very fun!
College Sophomore 2013-07-15T21:58:20Z
The computers are up to date and run smoothly all over the building. With that being said not all of the teachers are completely trained in how to use all of the tech at the school.
College Sophomore 2013-07-15T21:55:44Z
I like the education overall so far. Some of the work load can be overwhelming sometimes though, and some teachers are very demanding in what they ask for not necessarily considering work we may have for other classes.
College Sophomore 2013-07-15T21:54:55Z
There are a plethora of different types of people at NYIT, and I love it. I see so many different races and when i speak to people I see a lot of diversity in their personalities and beliefs.
College Sophomore 2013-07-15T21:53:54Z
I've learned a lot from the different professors at NYIT. but I have definately learned much more from some than others. Some teachers I simply dislike their overall teaching method and could do without it
College Sophomore 2013-07-15T21:21:38Z
My school is very strict in terms of attendance. There are a very few amount of tolerated absences per semester.

I love all of the accessibility and opportunities for clubs and extra curricular at my school. I feel like anyone there can find a club they're very interested in and have fun with it. On the other hand i do feel that their ability to start up a new club based upon student demands is lacking.

I am happy with Electrical Engineering. I would do it all over again because I am passionate about this field. It is very interesting to me. I do plan to land a job in small/medium sized company. Then after I've had a job for a couple years go back and get my Masters and PhD. The only concern I have is getting experience that some of these jobs want. Most likely you will have to start off junior/entry level and gain some experience there before moving on to a regular engineering job.

Well I am a transfer student. The admission process was fairly easy and straightforward. They would send emails and letters to you informing you of what is going on and what else is needed from you. To get into the engineering program you must obtain a C or better in calculus math. In my previous school I got a C-. So I was undeclared until I got an A in Calculus II. Other than that the biggest challenge I encountered was time management. I had work study and a p/t job while going to school f/t. So anytime I was free I would study and review or do homework. Any waking moment I would engage in my studies if I wasn't doing anything else.

I am studying Electrical and Computer Engineering and I am enjoying it. If you are passionate about the subject you are learning then you would also enjoy it. What I think is really interesting is when you actually apply all of the info you learned in all your courses. Everything comes together into one.The workload can be high sometimes but you must prioritize what you have to do and when. Some of the facilities that we have at the school could be better especially when it requires specific software and the school doesn't have it. The career net has a lot of job opportunities posted.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
