In and of the city, the ambiance is amazing. With Washington Square Park at the heart of campus, it simple adds to the uniqueness of our college!

The school has a great Drug Safety initiative especially at the Freshman orientations. Really makes one aware.

There's plenty of places through out the city, only expect high prices. Most dorms are cheaper or comparable.
College Student 2013-07-13T21:06:36Z
There's something to do 24/7, and with the diversity of the city every block is a different world.

It's New York, there's everything you could possible want, and plenty of it is available for delivery and late at night.

Cold in Winter. Hot in summer. Spring and Fall can get some absolutely perfect days.

All financial Aid is done through FASFA so as long as you fill it out they will award as needed. Individual schools are great at communicating scholarship options

Public transportation is extremely reliable for the most part, but definitely pricey. Cabs are cheap and easy to locate when needed.
College Sophomore 2013-07-12T00:29:01Z
Awesome options at affordable prices especially for NYC. Lots of places off-campus offer student discounts as well

It was extremely cold all year long. It was only warm around the first few weeks of school and around the last week before it got out for the summer.

An incredible and expansive library. Athletic centers are incredible as well, and large, thankfully. Campus events occur just about everyday and are a great way for interacting and meeting people.
College Sophomore 2013-07-10T20:52:29Z
A great community of people and staff. Dorms vary in size across different dorms and floors; some are much too small. The buildings are well kept and it's convenient that the freshman dorms have cafeterias. The security guards could stand to be a little less strict/menacing.
College Freshman 2013-07-10T00:54:11Z
Most students have their own laptops, Wifi is available to all, however printing costs money.

NYU is a prestigious college due to its excellent academics.

NYU is a city school therefore parking is not crucial. However they do have a parking garage available to students.

If you are commuting, the subway is easy as well as different trains through Grand Central. Its pretty cheap and easy to navigate especially with apps. Get used to walking in New York. Cabs are also always available.
College Sophomore 2013-07-08T18:06:04Z
New York is one of the biggest cities in the world. Since NYU doesn't have a defined campus you are surrounded by the best shopping, restaurants, and everything else is within a train ride away.
College Sophomore 2013-07-08T18:01:47Z
NYU is very diverse, there are people from many different countries at this university and it prides itself on being a global campus. The LGBT community here is prominent and i don't think anyone ever feels ostracized.

Though being under 21 could very well limit nightlife opportunities in the city, there are actually quite a few 18+ parties, and if you're looking for them, you will find them. There are also quite often frat parties and good 'ole chill areas that NYU students love to frequent nights. NYU itself also offers many night events, especially during the spring semester, when there are tons of formals and dances to go to.

Manhattan is probably one of the best places to go to get ANY kind of food you want. There is an incredible variety of ethnic cuisine to choose from, and there are honestly so many restaurants in the city -- you can find five different restaurants on the same block! Many people would complain that city dining is very expensive, but I have found several places that have reasonable prices, and Chinatown is always an option for unbelievably cheap food. My go-to's in Manhattan are Vapiano's, Da Andrea, and of-course NY's notorious 99-cent pizza!

Needless to say, going to school in NYC offers countless opportunities and possibilities whether you're on or off-campus. There are always plenty of people milling about, there are many restaurants and stores to frequent, and with the efficient subway, nothing is out of reach. Great places like the Empire State, Battery Park, Ground Zero and the like are just a few of the numerous places to go. The only reason NYU doesn't get an A+++ is because certain facilities like stables, fields for various sports, and stadiums are not exactly within Manhattan, so travel to such places does take time. But overall, NYU is awesome!

I am a transfer student and do not have a meal plan.
College Senior 2013-07-02T18:19:40Z
It's NYC...why would you even try to park on campus? It is of course very difficult.
College Senior 2013-07-02T18:18:41Z
Academics are the central focus of this school and everything seems very well organized. The professors will challenge you but in a good way. Registration is very simple.
College Senior 2013-07-02T18:15:09Z
Course load is challenging but the students are what make the difference. Everyone seems to be not only intelligent but motivated. It's been an excellent experience so far.
