Almost Invisible but Still Great to Be a Part of – Greek life has no affect of the social atmosphere at NYU. The Greeks rarely try to involve the whole NYU community, only people who are Greek and people who know Greeks. Non-Greeks aren't bothered by Greeks and don't look at them any differently, although some people do believe themselves to be above "paying for friends." There are fraternity and sorority dorms and many people who are Greek room together even if it's not in the official NYU Greek housing. Everyone I know in a Fraternity or Sorority thoroughly enjoys it.

Possible Expensive but Ultimately Worth It – The apartments can be nice and it's easy to find one near campus. Off-campus housing can be very difficult to find at an affordable price for students. Often there are 4-6 people sharing an average apartment. If the apartment is in Manhattan then it's usually a lot of money for an okay amount of space. If it's in Brooklyn then it's not a lot of money for a little space. You will need roommates to split the price. But in the long run it does end up being cheaper than campus housing. Even if the space is cramped and it's an average apartment, very few experiences can top living in an apartment in New York City.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Safe – Even though NYU doesn't have a traditional campus and is in the heart of the city, I very rarely feel unsafe. But being in New York does make me feel that I should be careful because you never know who really is near the campus. That said, we're in a very safe area. I've never seen the campus security get involved in anything unless they were called.

The Social Scene – NYU is located in one of the most exciting cities in the world. Although, it lacks a campus--Washington Square Park and New York as a whole, becomes the campus for NYU students. I am never bored being at NYU because there are alway new areas to explore and new friendships to be made.

Pretty Rare – NYU is not the richest school so scholarships are limited, but there are a wealth of scholarships offered by other schools which the school provides information about, and if you maintain a very high GPA, you increase your chances of being selected to receive a decent scholarship.

I'm Confide in My School Security – I think my school have the best security so far. When i enrolled at the college, the first day i went there to seek for advise i didn't have my ID Card i wasn't allow to come in and i beg the police officer to let me in he said that's the procedure sir. I was mad and i later realized that they are doing a good job. Again, in all the area of the school you will see the police officer all around at any corner even in the library, i was so happy to see that since i enrolled i never regret of being there.

Not Too Bad – The RAs vary in strictness, but for the most part they are chill. If there is alcohol present, they have to write you up but usually there are no hard feelings between the RA and the residents. However, some friends in my hall got written up for smoking weed, and had to write an essay on the negative effects of weed and attend a several hour-long informational session, on top of a student conduct meeting with the Residence Hall Director.

Guys & Girls:
'Individual' Style – A lot of the students are concerned with presenting their personal style, which is often similar to Urban Outfitters' aesthetics. Others don't really care, but there are definitely a lot of stylish people. There are A LOT of girls and a lot of gay guys. Lots of theatre majors, but you can steer clear of them. I was disappointed to find a small interest in the arts among my peers.

My Program Is Not Diverse – NYU is diverse; there are students of all races and ethnicities everywhere you look. Except for in the Liberal Studies Program, which I am in. It's mostly composed of upper-middle class white students, and a majority of the students in my classes are female.

There's not much to do if the weather is poor. Mostly everything is either outside or has to do with outside activity, and walking outside is impossible to avoid.

Unlimited Resources – Nightlife is for students 18 or older. You can take the subway or a cab to virtually anywere in the city, and the cover charge is relatively low. Parties at the campus are generally small, so going elsewhere out to a club is your best bet

It's the City – It's New York City. There are lots of transportation options -- cabs, buses, bikes, the subway, most of which are pretty reasonably priced. There are campus buses that run throughout the campus (stretching from the medical center down to Chinatown) which are pretty efficient.
College Senior 2011-04-12T01:58:14Z
Virtually Nonexistent – The sports scene is touted, but hardly seen. You will, however, see people packed at the gyms, which are well-equipped and frequently used by the community. You'll see flyers everywhere for sporting events, but unless you're on a team or are friends with people on them, you'll probably never watch a game ever.

Campus Location Perk – The campus located in the middle of manhattan really provides the cultural diversity as well as job prospects throughout the city. New York is the considered the center of the world, giving students an amazing opportunity to study there.
