Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drug safety is very simple on NYU's campus: you either join them or you don't. It is very easy to avoid drugs at NYU, as drug use is not something that is highly publicized or promoted on campus. Therefore, it is up to you whether to get involved in drug use. There is a strict drug and alcohol policy in NYU dorms, and violating this policy often results in severe consequences.

Everyone (Well, Almost Everyone) Smokes.

From my experience thus far, I've found that the drug of choice is smoking. Second comes drinking. NYU is not a party school, and the parties I've come across are very mild, meaning your average and somewhat boring (beer pong, jello shots) type of party.

Almost Everybody Drinks

Drugs and marijuana are very easy to find, though not everybody participates in these activities. On the other hand, it seems that almost every student, with exceptions, of course, drinks alcohol as fake ID's are so easy to come by and there are a lot of bars that don't card minors. Smoking cigarettes is like a competitive sport at NYU as well.

On the Down Low

The marijuana usage is very prominent, let alone alcohol. Students frequently drink and smoke in the dorms, but the policies are quite strict. The RAs are usually nice, but efficient because they enforce the policies rather than letting us go. Because of this fact, many students just dress as if they're 25 and go out to bars to get a couple of drinks and absorb the city nightlife.
