They told me international students couldn't receive scholarships.

I got no financial aid although my family really needed it, and scholarships are few and hard to come by given out by the university. They had no problem offering me many loans however.

For such a rich school it's abominable how little financial aid is given out, even to those who really need it.

Frankly, NYU does not offer much financial aid. For being one of America's richest schools, you would expect more. In addition, it seems that they give out aid somewhat haphazardly, with some students getting a ton and other getting almost none for no clear reason. If you clearly demonstrate need, though, NYU does do all they can to accommodate you.

THIS IS THE WORST PART OF THE SCHOOL! Look, I love this place, but unless you qualify for an insane amount of need-based aid, or are a, don't plan on receiving that much aid. NYU claims it meets the needs of something like 80% of peoples aid, which is redonkulous. John Sexton is sitting on our huge endowment and only taking over buildings and building campuses in Shanghai with it. In order to apply for aid, you also have to apply for need-based aid as merit-based aid is not given separately... If you need, NEED the money I still encourage you to apply, but prepare to be disappointed. Also, international students are not given aid, as a heads up.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
