New York City experiences all four seasons, the best and worst of each. Although the spring and winter can inflict thunder- and snowstorms on the city, for the most part, city weather is not too bad. To be more specific, winter winds can be quite harsh, and heavy snowstorms can make commuting in the winter a hassle, but NYU's environmental sanitation team is very good at taking care of the mess nasty weather leave behind.
In the summer, the weather is absolutely amazing, and the popular parks in the city become a haven for relaxation and fun. Overall, NYC weather is quite dynamic; the best way to prepare for its "moods" is to pack with all four seasons in mind.
