Faculty often espouse that they are 100% aware that people have responsibilities outside of classes. Much of the student body have part-time (sometimes multiple) or full-time jobs, children, or a business to run. Instructors are often understanding of this and help the student find a way to manage it. Furthermore, there are online classes, online classes, and the availability to attend the class via another campus through webcam.
Currently, my experience is that most of my credits transfer. I'm sure this is dependent on the intended college/university one wishes to transfer to. Furthermore, Nicolet has various articulation agreements with University of Wisconsin universities to make the process as seamless as possible.

Subjectively speaking, the rigor of Nicolet is not particularly high and most classes are, possibly, over forgiving. The quality of each class is highly dependent on the instructor. Some are extremely adept at relaying information. One class may be a monotone lecture while another will be lively, interactive, and interesting. Admittedly, this is rather universal across most education and the quality of education is also largely up to the student.
This all said, the Nicolet is also inexpensive and attending for the first two years is an effective way of going to college without landing into debt immediately. Furthermore, the faculty are accommodating of one's personal life and scheduling. They are also glad to assist a student who has a problem and, in my experience, very informative when given an inquiry about various topics. (Sometimes it's the chats with instructors outside of class that are priceless, not the in-class lectures).
My main complaint - and it is one that seems to be commonplace among the student body - is that the academic advisers are notoriously hit or miss, most being miss. Some truly know the system and can supply you with ample information without confusing you, but most of the time you're given inapplicable or inadequate information. At worse, I've been given wrong information.
Overall, Nicolet offers an inexpensive way to complete a two year degree and enter your field of interest immediately or transfer. The classes are typically more laid back and not horridly intensive, faculty accommodating and willing to help solve problems and/or share their knowledge both inside and outside of class, and advisers not up to par with expectations.

I am in the core nursing program therefore classes are beyond challenging. It is a very vigorous program and puts high demands on students. Through studying 40+ hours a week for a class, it is manageable. If one does go through the nursing program, do not plan on having a life as for all of your energy and time will be spent reading and reviewing.

I have never had a problem with online courses before, to me online courses are actually a joke. I feel that people shouldn't be allowed to take specific classes online such as medical terminology, etc because people don't get a full grasp of information online.

Mixed Group – Nicolet Area Tech College services many different types of people, not just your recent high school graduates but also many middle aged adults who are either going back to finish a degree or to get another degree because they have been laid off. Considering Nicolet is within a small community, there isn't too much ethnic diversity nor sexual diversity. Overall though, there is a great mix of both personal and business in among students and staff.

Considering I am in the medical field, the graduating and job rate post graduation is extremely high. I do not remember exactly what the percentage is but I know that the majority of students obtain a job right away.

Academic Achievement – The most interesting thing about Nicolet, for being such a small town community college is the fact that they are highly known for their outstanding nursing program and their culinary arts program!

The school needs quite a bit of updates. They have redone our main transfer center which turned out excellent but they need to remodel the rest of the buildings and give everything a fresh look.
The student center was recently redone which is great but don't let it fool you, there aren't really any campus activities besides spanish club to join.
The library is beyond need of update and they should have done some better planning because the library is right above the cafeteria in which it is loud.

The student body at Nicolet College is very small numbers. Typically when you walk past someone they usually wont smile, but if they are walking through a door and you are behind them, they will hold the door open. Students usually dress comfy, or in other words, lazy. Most students are white, as well as the professors. As a whole, it's quite apparent that everyone attends for learning purposes only, not for meeting new people and building relationships.

I have enjoyed all of my online classes--when I am able to keep up with them and focus on them, but that's usually my fault for signing up for too many classes in the first place.

I was nervous taking my first online course ever at Nicolet. The class started and assignments were instantly started. I felt like the professor was available to answer any questions. The pace was something I had trouble getting used to. I would recommend writing all the syllabus dates on a separate calendar so you can keep track.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
