North Carolina A&T State University specializes in engineering, technical, and agricultural degree programs but has also produced shining stars in business, finance, theater, and journalism. North Carolina A&T also has the most diverse degree offerings of all other HBCUs in the country. The engineering and business programs are renowned, and A&T recently received an Engineering Research Center grant, a very prestigious honor. There are student instructors, teacher's aides, and tutors available for every subject, so seeking help is never a problem. Most professors are happy to clarify problems outside of class, as long as you express to them that you take their course and academics seriously. If you want to change your schedule, dropping and adding classes is not a problem because the deadline usually arrives one to two months into the semester. Building a relationship with your adviser can be very beneficial. Advisers not only help you register for classes each semester, but also keep you on track with your curriculum guide and direct you to clubs and organizations surrounding your major as well as scholarship opportunities. Networking with other students within your major and other majors is very helpful because it allows you to build a list of contacts in any industry that you may be able to call on in a time of need.
