The University police department takes its job very seriously. They are licensed officers who carry weapons, and they have the right to arrest, cite, and report students in any situation. They are very protective of the students and staff. The police can be very helpful. They keep the campus and dormitories clean and free of drugs by performing random dorm sweeps in which they utilize a police dog to "sniff out" any drugs or drug-related paraphernalia. Although the NC A&T campus is known for is warm, jubilant atmosphere, the rules still taken very seriously. There are rules, regulations and procedures against drinking, drugs, weapons, physical altercations, and an array of other criminal activities. If these rules are broken, students could face a loss of on-campus housing privileges, possible arrest by the Greensboro Police Department, judicial hearings on campus and at the Guilford County Courthouse, and even worse, immediate suspension from the University. All crimes are not successfully solved and exhausted by the University police, but you can count on being disciplined if you break the rules.
