I live ten mins away which is really five for me and my complex is brand new and I have everything I want without the hassle of campus life...I've already went to another college and lived the dorm campus life and even then I had to get my own place.

Pros - relatively cheap
Cons - you get what you ask for - lost checks, stabbings, shoot, robberies (all at wolf creek apartments)

MACs are everywhere. The new library is awesome. You can find free places to print.

Most of the teachers instruct and could care less if the students actually understand the material.

Lots of options. Not the roomiest rooms you'll ever see, but not bad. I love living in central campus because it's closest to classes. Some just got renovated recently (Bragaw, Sullivan). Syme has the biggest rooms. Housing isn't too hard to come by. You sign up online.

I'm a biology major at NC State. I love it! My adviser is great. The people at the career center are always there to meet my needs. My professors are all very helpful and knowledgeable about their subjects. Biology majors have to take 4 semesters of chemistry, plus biochemistry, microbiology, 2 semesters of physics, as well as math and gen ed courses. It's a great program that makes one well-rounded. As far as internship opportunities, the possibilities are endless. I did mine at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, which is a 5-10 minute drive from NC State.

There's a campus bus system, the Wolfline, to get you around campus. It's free. There are buses during the day as well as at night. There's even one that can pick you up in Raleigh at certain stops at night. Students can get a free GoPass to ride the city bus to Raleigh. If you're somewhere on campus at night and you don't want to walk home alone, you can call the campus police non-emergency number to get a police escort. If you live in NC there's a good chance the Amtrak train stops near your hometown. I've ridden it to and from Raleigh with no problems.

The student body is predominantly white, but the university does put a large emphasis on diversity and acceptance. There are many active and vocal minority groups on campus (GLBTCA, women's services, Black and Asian student groups) dedicated to representation. While most students are white, it is not an overwhelming majority and looking around campus will generally give you a good view of people of many different races, ethnicities and religions.

Despite being a very qualified student and going after many merit based as well as financial need based scholarships, it's impossible to receive the help I need and I get very little from financial aid. Looking forward to a decade of paying off student loan debt.

As a non-Greek, I'm barely aware of Greek life when they aren't trying to sell me baked goods. And that's how I like it. Greek life is fairly unobtrusive if you're not interested in it and I don't tend to hear horror stories about it, so it's fine by me.

I learned a TON from my internship. It was the best experience ever.

It prepared me to become a MSW student. Great program!

Police and room advisors are strict. When a student gets a first offense they are sent to the Resident Director and possibly the STudent Conduct Board for further consequences.

Health & Safety:
Some concerns regarding non-students who come onto campus.

Health & Safety:
The student health center provides a lot of good quality medical programs to meet students' needs.

There's this great sushi place where it's BOGO. There are also plenty of sports bars and fast food restaurants they serve late.

Guys & Girls:
They're just so many different types of people that you are going to meet people of similar interests and different ones as well. However, everyone does understand how to be polite and everyone has their ego in check.

It's not worth the price for those small rooms. It's cheaper to get an apartment. However the dorms are on main campus and closer to the dining halls.

They don't give you as much money as you'd think, leaving me broke.

The dorms are all pretty old. But they try to renovate them regularly. It's great to live there your first year at least to get to know people who live in your dorm. I lived in a hall and it was fantastic. But I don't plan on living in a dorm for my junior and senior years.

The campus is very large, so local weather can impact it a lot. The bus system is alright so you can get around the edges of campus and from off campus if you need to, but they can only get you so far and are usually crowded. Getting between buildings is a different story. If there is any type of foul weather make sure you dress appropriately because you can have walks outside of up to 15 min.

For most of the time that I have dealt with financial aid they have been helpful. The amounts that you get will most likely be less than what you should. One thing is for sure though, make sure you are on time with your forms and dont miss deadlines.

The school is average when it comes to the strictness of student behavior. Things like alcohol tickets are dealt with by having to write a paper or take a class. The student conduct board does seem to overstep their bounds when it comes to the location of the offense. They will take anything that you do, in or outside of school, and use it against you. The grade I gave is for the general student population, when it comes to greeks they are much tougher. They have harsher punishments and are less lenient when greeks are involved.

I am currently working at one animal hospital and interning at another one since I am a pre-vet student. It is definitely a big time commitment and a lot of the internships are unpaid but the experience that you get from it is definitely worth the time you put into it.

I am happy with my major and I would definitely do it over again although I might pick a minor to start with so that I can work those requirements in with my major classes.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
