I'm looked up to as an engineering major. The workload is tough but I know it will be rewarding. And there's tons of working opportunities

During dead week you would have better luck going to nondescript buildings and using their computer labs than the DH Hill Library on main campus. The new library on the engineering campus is revolutionary, high tech labs everywhere and plenty of space, not to mention the Bookbot

I know students from China, India, Australia, Russia, and even Finland campus is a plethora of different people with different customs and beliefs

Plenty of macs and pcs available! You will need your own laptop but you can also rent. Hunt Library on Centennial canpus is state of the art. DH Hill is convenient to main campus classes. There are labs available all over campus and in class buildings as well as dorms. Printing can be a hassle, you must open a all campus account to be able to print.

I recommend living on campus at least your first year! Tucker and Owen are fun but the bathrooms are gross and there are often loud social events outside which can be detrimental to studying. Turlington and Alexander are also wonderful. Avent Ferry is a little far from classes unless you are a natural sciences major. Avoid the Tri Towers. Though a little far from class, Bragaw is a great option. For upperclassman, check out Wolf Village Apartments!

In August when classes start its still rather hot but from september to december is really nice. It usually is cold january to mid march, and then it warms up a lot! We do experience rain often especially during january but we have a bus system so it wont stop you from going to class :)

Guys & Girls:
There are many different ethnicities represented in terms of gender on this campus. With that being said, everyone has their own style.

The strictness on campus is taken seriously to those that make severe violations. Any wrong doings will be hold accountable.

Most of the apartments are not close enough to campus to walk, however, they do have busses that transport students to campus.

Most of the dining halls are good. However, the food can seem redundant and it gets old.

Campus police at NC State will not hesitate to hand out parking tickets during the weekdays, but the first ticket is only a warning. Finding a spot is fairly simple on the right day and on the weekends you are free to park where you want. Permits go fast for a good spot so it's first come first serve. Freshman are usually out of luck when it comes to a good spot, but there are the lucky few.

Guys & Girls:
The boys are mostly either camo wearing country boys, atheltic jocks, preppy fratstars or nerdy engineers. Lots and lots of cute couthern accets, trucks, baseball and bojangles. If you dont think country boys are hot this is not the school for you

You are fine if you are a freshman. Freshman have to park pretty far out usually. The buses are really awesome so you really dont need a car for everyday use just for weekends and stuff

Though the school boasts of diversity, I personally do not see it. The majority is most definitely white, upper middle class young adults. State tries to encourage diversity by letting those of ethnic and racial diversity know that they are welcome through the multicultural affairs department. State does have a GLBT center that helps GLBT students with any personal problems and provides a safe environment for them, but some hate still occurs on campus through discriminatory slurs in the Free Expression tunnel after the center puts up stuff. A huge majority of the school's students are of Christian faith, though other religions are acknowledged.

The great thing about this school is that there are a lot of traditions if you want to be involved in them. There is always something to do each week may it be educational or simply for fun. I would recommend living in central campus if you get the chance because it's easy to reach classes and everything is near by; the athletic center, the student center, the brickyard, etc.

The school's facilities have to be one of my favorite things about the campus. The DH Hill library on the main campus is great for studying with groups and there are places to study in the stacks that are nice a quiet. The landscape and buildings are well maintained. The fast food options are not the best for me, but most others enjoy them.

Health & Safety:
I feel safe on campus but am not comfortable running alone around the edge of campus. I will always walk with a friend or two if it is after dark, even on campus!!
College Sophomore 2013-01-06T21:22:08Z
Of course the library's computers are going to be in almost full use during finals time but your computer ever breaks or you want to try a new one out, you can borrow one/check one out for a few days! Very cool if you would rather carry an iPad to class instead of a laptop.
College Sophomore 2013-01-06T21:11:41Z
Students are very excited on game day but the teams may not perform up to the hype always.

Being in the Textile School is amazing. The classes are very small and you get a lot of attention from teachers. They all learn your name unlike most classes in college. The workload is tough, but with the close relationships with teachers it is easy to go to them for guidance. The facilities are very nice and they are building a brand new library. There are internship fairs twice a year that are great to attend if you are looking for opportunities!

Almost everyone loves going to athletic events. Whether the team is great this year or not, the students always go to support them. Our school spirit is awesome. The athletic facilities are very nice as well.

I hear very little about drug use on campus. No one has ever approached me about them. Obviously there are people who drink and smoke, but there are dry dorms and no smoking within 25 feet of any building pretty much.

I received a small amount of financial aid, but the interest rate that would come with it was higher than one I would get from a bank. There for we chose not to accept the aid.
College Sophomore 2013-01-02T20:17:49Z
Permits are high and you can't really park on campus. Also the lots are so far from main campus you'll have to take the bus or just walk 30 mintues or more.
College Sophomore 2013-01-02T20:15:03Z
Sometimes the food is good but I don't always know exactly what the dish is. It may be because NC State dinning needs to please each race sometimes but as a African American I'm not used to every type of food. But the food gets old at times, breakfast is always the same.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
