OK but Repetitive – The places around campus are good. I guess you get kind of tired of eating at dining halls, but when you need something to eat between classes, you can’t complain. NC State dining hall food is not all that bad, it just gets old sometimes. I suggest not buying a huge meal plan after freshman year.

Reach Out to Them ASAP – The college does little to promote the financial aid department, but they are very helpful once you reach out to them. I recomend schedng an appointment to set everything up and make sure that they have all of your information.

Off-Campus Availability – There are many alternative places to stay near campu for very reasonable prices. The area around State is being remodeled and many new apartment complexes are being built specifically for students-only. There are many places within walking distance of campus that offer a student-friendly environment and student-friendly prices.

Housing Process – The housing process at NC State is rather difficult and tedious. To get a desired dorm on campus, people have to sign up very early on in the process. Dorms fill up very quickly and the school has a tendency to overbook, leaving some freshmen without a dorm.

This major is amazing. The professors are super helpful and the classes are fun.

While the student-to-teacher ratio is very high, if you simply talk to a teacher, or go to their office hours, they are very helpful and not as intimidating as they seem.

Parking at NC State sucks! There are plenty of buses that drive students to and around campus though. The permit prices are reasonable. Tickets and fines can quickly add up if you arent careful with where you park. And I would say that it isnt 100% necessary to have a car, but its definitely convenient. Especially if you have an off campus job.

Drugs and Alcohol – Our campus police are very strict on students walking around with open containers. Many underage drinking tickets are given out in order to show students that they are not playing around. If you are going to drink dont carry it around campus with you. Be smart. I would say that drugs are not very visible on campus. I have not been in any situations involving drugs

Living in dorms has both pros and cons. I lived in Tucker Hall my freshman year at NC State. The pros are that youre around a lot of people all of the time. Its fun to be social and go to events with the people who live in your dorm. You get to meet new people that way. Thats how I met my best friends =] Some of the cons are the rules. Some dorms wont let you have guests of the opposite sex. And the Resident Advisors can sometimes be harsh. But other than that dorm life was the best.

Tickets Will Come – Don't park unless you have a permit or you will almost certainly get a ticket. If you are off campus you won't be able to drive to get to classes as spots are reserved for faculty and those who live on campus. You can drive and park on campus on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays.

Large Variety – Even if you are staying on campus there is a huge variety with the dining halls and two separate on campus locations that have a wide variety of selection

Many Choices to Choose from – Raleigh is a gigantic metropolitan area and has many hot spots. NC State is near several other colleges including Shaw and NCCU. It about a 30 minute drive to UNC-CH, which is our biggest rival. The campus of NC State is very diverse, if you want to enjoy yourself, seek out numerous events going on throughout campus.

It's Great Here – I do enjoy the school very much. There is lots going on all the time, but it never feels like anything is pressuring the students to do what they do not want to do.

There are some parking options the campus provides that are free while the majority of the parking has a rather hefty fee.

Food/Dining on Campus – There are multiple dining halls, some of them resembling a food court in a mall. There are hundreds of vending machines with drinks and food all over campus.

Human Biology – The courses I take are fairly tough. Chemistry is taught very well at this school. There are many great clubs that correspond to my major and are helpful for developing professionalism.

Don't Bring a Car If You Don't Have to – While there is a decent amount of parking at NCSU for student and faculty that have permits, if you're just visiting there is almost zero parking for you. They're more lenient during move in and move out week, but it's still ridiculous the lack of parking that exists. If you park on campus without a permit, you just get a warning ticket from the NCSU police. As for the need of a car on campus, it's not really that needed. If you need anything it's either on campus, in easy walking distance, or a bus can take you to it. If you're a student at NCSU you can get this thing called a Go-Pass for free so you can use public transportation at no cost.

A Huge Melting Pot – NCSU has a huge range of different types of people, and it doesn't just stop at race. While we have many races, we also have many religions, beliefs, sexualities, political views, and personalities at NCSU.

Very Fun and Mostly Family-Friendly – Varsity sports at NC State are a pretty big deal. Our fans are known for traveling very well to away games, and home games for all sports are usually pretty packed. The support of the fans as well as the great bands for football and basketball make attending any sporting event here a good time.
